Laughter Erupts in Court After Johnny Depp’s Bodyguard Is Asked If He Saw the Actor’s Penis

Johnny Depp and others in attendance in a Fairfax, Virginia courtroom on Thursday erupted in laughter following questioning of his bodyguard. The guard was asked if he’d seen Depp’s exposed penis while working in Australia.

The bodyguard, Malcolm Connolly was asked about his time with Depp in 2015 when the actor was filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Both Connolly and Depp’s ex-wife, Amber Heard were living in Australia with him.

A Lawyer for Amber Heard Asked Connolly if He Witnessed Johnny Depp Urinating in the Foyer of His Australian Home.

During cross-examination, Heard’s lawyer asked Connolly, who appeared via live video in the Fairfax courtroom, whether he witnessed Depp urinating in the foyer of their residence at the time. Connolly confirmed he heard a noise inside the home and that when he entered, he witnessed Depp in the foyer.

“And Mr. Depp was trying to urinate in the foyer, wasn’t he?” Connolly was asked. “No,” the bodyguard replied as Depp, 58, laughed. And, an audible laugh erupted throughout the courtroom. The lawyer continued his questioning after the outburst, “Mr. Depp had his penis out, didn’t he?” before being interrupted by an objection. From his seat, Depp shook his head and grinned.

“I think I would’ve remembered seeing Mr. Depp’s penis,” the British bodyguard joked. He is still employed by Depp. The actor reacted by putting his head on his arm on the table in front of him in laughter.

Depp is suing Heard for libel over a 2018 op-ed she wrote iThe Washington Post. She refers to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” The piece doesn’t specifically name Depp. But his attorneys argue that it clearly references a restraining order that Heard sought in May 2016, right after Depp told her he would be seeking a divorce.

Depp said the accusations and the op-ed piece contributed to an unfairly ruined reputation that made him an outcast in Hollywood and cost him his role in the profitable Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Heard’s attorneys argued that Depp’s bad reputation and behavior were to blame for his career setbacks.

The pair met while making the 2011 movie The Rum Diary and later married in 2015. They broke up in May 2016 when Heard sought a domestic violence restraining order against him, accusing him of abusing her. Depp denied the claims, and they settled their divorce out of court in August 2016.

Before the start of the defamation trial, Heard, who has yet to take the stand, said in a statement that “hopefully when this case concludes, I can move on and so can Johnny. I have always maintained a love for Johnny and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world.”

Lawyers for Heard have argued that Depp’s abuse of Heard took “many forms” including physical, emotional, verbal, psychological, as well as sexual violence. A spokesperson for Depp has denied these claims.

In November 2020, Johnny Depp lost his highly publicized UK libel lawsuit case against British tabloid The Sun for publishing a piece that referred to him as a “wife-beater.” The court upheld the outlet’s claims as being “substantially true” and Heard testified to back up the allegations. In March 2021, his attempt to overturn the decision was overruled.

We’ll continue monitoring the defamation trial for any new updates.
