JoJo Siwa Felt Inspired by Her ‘Super Encouraging’ Girlfriend to Come Out

JoJo Siwa revealed to Jimmy Fallon earlier this week that she got the “most love” she’s ever received after her “beautiful” girlfriend gave her the encouragement she needed to come out publicly and to her many, many fans.

In fact, she had a lot of wonderful descriptors for her GF that included “amazing, wonderful, perfect, most beautiful girlfriend in the whole world.” The 17-year-old social media darling gushed to Fallon about her girlfriend as she described the circumstances around her recent coming out journey. It is the sweetest, most pure thing we have ever seen and we did not know that we 100% needed it. This has been a darkest winter, take a moment to soak up some of JoJo’s bright light.

JoJo Siwa who came out just weeks ago revealed that her girlfriend was a huge motivating factor. Watch JoJo below!

The former “Dance Moms” star made her LGBTQIA+ news known to the public. Her close friends and family have known for some time about her sexuality, she explained to Fallon. JoJo made it official by tweeting a photo of herself wearing a shirt that said: “best gay cousin ever.”

JoJo told Fallon that she felt emboldened to share the image while filming with a group of queer TikTokers, assuming the collaboration would “out” her anyway.

‘My cousin got me a new shirt,’ JoJo Siwa tweeted on January 22.

“I don’t really mind because it is true, I do have the most amazing, wonderful, perfect, most beautiful girlfriend in the whole world,” said the influencer, who boasts 12.5 million subscribers on YouTube and millions more on TikTok.

“One day I was on FaceTime with my girlfriend and I was like, ‘I kind of just want to post this picture on my [Instagram] Story,’” Siwa explained to Fallon.

“She was super encouraging, she was like, ‘do it’ and I was like, ‘alright’ and I did it… [then I went] back to FaceTiming with her.”

The “Boomerang” singer confessed that she did play with her fans a bit before the big announcement by posting videos of her singing Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way,” an unofficial/official queer pride anthem. As well as her lipsynching with members of the “TikTok house” called Pride House LA, a queer content collective.

The star explained to Fallon that the response was overwhelmingly positive with many of her friends messaging, tweeting, commenting, and more about how proud they were of her own pride.

While the outpouring of love was appreciated by the entertainer, JoJo did admit that it was a “really big risk.”

“If I lost everything that I’ve created because of being myself and because of loving who I want to love, I don’t want it,” she said. “If I can’t love who I want to love, it’s one of the most important things to me.”

We’re not crying, you’re crying!

JoJo also admitted that she had teared up just before her “Tonight Show” appearance, but they were happy tears of pure JoJo joy.

“I’m just so happy because now I get to share what makes me the happiest with the world and it makes my heart so happy.”

We are always surprised by this young talent’s upbeat attitude and positive outlook on life. Her comments come just days after she was the target of a “swatting” incident that sent dozens of police to her home as part of a prank or as a tactic of paparazzi photographers to get photos of the teen right after her big announcement.

Thankfully, JoJo appeared unfazed by the recent “swatting” episode. Instead, she is a beacon of hope to so many kids who comprise the majority of her huge social media audience. We are certain so many young people will hear her message of love and feel empowered to take the steps they themselves are comfortable with and even coming out.

You go, JoJo!
