Joseph Gatt was arrested on April 6 by Los Angeles Police for “contact with a minor for sexual offense.”
The Game of Thrones actor was served a residential search warrant in the early morning the same day after the juvenile division of the LAPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) received information that “Gatt had been engaged in online sexually explicit communication with a minor across state lines,” a news release stated.
Joseph Gatt Was Arrested by Detectives for an Outstanding Felony Warrant.
Gatt, 50, resides in Los Angeles and was investigated by a task force with a mission to “detect and investigate child predators that use the Internet as a means to contact children or deal in child sexual abuse material.”
Detectives are trying to identify any further, potential victims and ask the public to come forward with any additional information.
A booking report obtained by Today confirmed that the English actor was released on a $5,000 bond just hours after being arrested.
Gatt took to Twitter on April 13 to address the incident tweeting that he denies the allegations.
“I obviously want to address the absolutely horrifying and completely untrue allegations recently leveled against me,” Gatt stated in the tweet. “They are 100% categorically wrong and reckless. I have confirmed errors and misleading information in today’s press release. I am fully cooperating with police and LAPD to get to the bottom of this. I look forward to clearing my good name.”
He also thanked his friends and supporters who “know that this is untrue and understand for legal reasons I cannot comment further on social media.”
Gatt is best known for his performance as Thenn Warg in HBO’s Game of Thrones series and he appeared in three episodes of the hit show.
In addition to his work on GOT, Gatt recently appeared in the live-action Dumbo remake as well as Thor, and Star Trek: Into Darkness.
Audiences could see him next in Black Adam, a DC film that stars Dwayne Johnson.
