Julianne Hough Has Been a ‘Warrior’ and a ‘Champion’ Through IVF Treatments, Says Husband

Like many women struggling to conceive, Julianne Hough made the decision to go through IVF in the hopes of getting pregnant. Hough has endometriosis which can potentially make it challenging to conceive naturally.

Her husband, Brooks Laich, recently spoke publically about the couple’s IVF experience on an episode of his iHeartRadio podcast, How Men Think. During the podcast, Laich, 36, shared that he and Hough started IVF right before Hough’s 30th birthday last July.  Laich shared details about the IVF process, saying that Hough had three shots a day for two weeks and dealt with mood swings from all of the hormones.

Following the podcast, Laich opened up to People about what it was like watching his wife go through the treatment, saying that he is even “more appreciate than ever for” her, calling her a “warrior” and a “champion.”

Because of the endometriosis, Hough also made the decision to freeze some of her eggs last year. Laich noted that the “commitment that she made to us having a family is something I’ll never forget.”

Laich shared with People that he and Hough have been open about her health struggles and the IVF process because they “want to fight the stigma that may come with fertility issues.”

“The outpouring has been incredible,” Laich shared with People. “Text messages from friends that I didn’t even know were considering it, messages on Twitter and Facebook, Instagram, people thanking us for opening up about that. I just hope it helps people.”

The couple will celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary on July 8.
