Jury Hits Alex Jones With Millions in Damages After He Admits to Spreading Lies About Sandy Hook Shooting

As the eye-opening trial against Alex Jones comes to an end, he has been ordered to pay 4.1 million dollars to the family of a 6-year-old who was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting for the suffering he caused them by spreading lies about the 2012 massacre.

During the trial, Jones has been called out for his lies and deceit. And while under oath, the world saw the shock-jock change his tune.

Yesterday, August 3, Jones said that he now realizes his behavior was irresponsible and believes Sandy Hook, the deadliest school shooting in American history, is “100% real.”

This lawsuit was brought by the parents of 6-year-old Jesse Lewis and holds Jones and his media company, Free Speech Systems, accountable. “I unintentionally took part in things that did hurt these people’s feelings and I’m sorry for that,” Jones continued.

Sadly, Sandy Hook isn’t the only American tragedies Jones has attempted to raise conspiracy theories about. As the AP reports, Jones has gone on record discussing conspiracies around the Boston Marathon bombings, and the shootings in Parkland, Florida, and Las Vegas.

“Alex started this fight,” Jesse’s father, Neil Heslin said, “and I’ll finish this fight.” Both Heslin and Scarlett Lewis also testified about the years of trauma they endured at the hands of Jones’ lies, which included online and phone threats, harassment on the street, and gunshots fired at a home.

“It seems so incredible to me that we have to do this — that we have to implore you, to punish you — to get you to stop lying,” Lewis told Jones during her testimony. The family had initially asked for $150 million in compensation with additional punitive damages.

As the AP reports, Jones’ attorney, however, asked the jury to limit damages to just $8 — one dollar for each of the compensation charges they are considering. While Jones said any award over $2 million “would sink us.”
