Kanye West’s Private School Sued By Two Former Teachers

Kanye West is facing a lawsuit after it was learned what is offered to students enrolled in his private Christian School.

For those who are unaware, Kanye founded the Donda Academy several years ago. According to the academy’s official website, it follows a “project-based learning model” that “allows students to guide instruction based on their interests and skills. We promote ideation, prototyping, and real-world implementation. Donda students grow in their faith and community through daily all-school worship and celebration at Sunday Service.”

The academy continues, writing, “Our staff believes each scholar deserves an innovative and personalized education. Our experienced educators have an uncompromised passion for creating lifelong learners and Christ-followers. We work to engage and educate the whole student – mind, body, and spirit.”

However, while the Donda Academy’s website promotes individuality and creativity, two women are alleging that the academy’s cafeteria lacks variety.

In fact, it reportedly only serves one type of food…sushi.

According to TMZ, the two women suing the institution worked at the academy as teachers but say they were fired for two reasons, “retaliation for sounding the alarm on alleged education, health, and safety code violations, and for their race.”

TMZ reports that the two women are Black.

As the lawsuit claims, the two women were reportedly the “only Black teachers” hired at the Academy as full-time teachers. The lawsuit furthers that the women were quick to discover “numerous health and safety violations, unlawful educational practices and extremely unusual rules.”

The women go on to claim that the only lunch option offered to enrolled students is sushi, “every single day.” The claim goes as far as to say that students are also prohibited from bringing “any outside food or drink” with the exception of water into the academy.

They are reportedly forced to eat their lunch sushi on the floor without tables and chairs as well.

TMZ goes on to report that the lawsuit alleges that students are banned from doing crosswords and coloring sheets in the classrooms and the students are not allowed to use chairs and must sit on foam cushions or stand.

Furthermore, the women say Donda Academy does not employ janitors or nurses and that student medications are kept in an insecure closet. Adding that teachers don’t have lesson plans and there are no disciplinary procedures in place.

The women revealed that bullying is reportedly a real issue within the school.

Students are also not allowed outside during the school day and lunch and recess periods are taken inside and at the same time for all grades, pre-K to 12th grade, TMZ reports.

The two women say they were fired after attempting to shed light on these issues. Kanye’s representatives have not yet responded to the lawsuit publicly.
