Kara Keough Bosworth, who is the daughter of Real Housewives of Orange County star Jeana Keough, and her husband, took to Instagram to reveal heartbreaking news.
On April 14, the former reality television star wrote that her and Kyle‘s infant son, McCoy Casey Bosworth, passed away just days after his birth. His passing was the result of complications that arose during his birth.
“On April 6th, our son McCoy Casey Bosworth was born at 3:10 a.m.,” Kara wrote on Instagram. “Weighing in at 11 pounds and 4 ounces and spanning 21 inches, McCoy surprised us all with his size and strength (and overall perfection). During the course of his birth, he experienced shoulder dystocia and a compressed umbilical cord.
He joined our Heavenly Father and will live forever in the hearts of his loving parents, his adoring sister, and those that received his life-saving gifts.”
According to the American Pregnancy Association, “Umbilical cord compression occurs when there is pressure put on the umbilical cord and can either occur during pregnancy or during labor. And it happens in approximately 1 in 10 deliveries.” Shoulder dystocia “is a birth injury that happens when one or both of a baby’s shoulders get stuck inside the mother’s pelvis during labor,” the March of Dimes reports.

The mom, who also shares a 4-year-old daughter with Kyle, implied that they made the decision to donate their baby son’s organs. She then shared the words she wrote and read aloud to the organ/tissue procurement team in his honor.
“Tonight, we join together to honor this little savior’s gifts of life. Through him, may others find new hope and profound healing… and may he live again through them. May his legacy shine in the form of lifetimes aplenty – lives filled with laughter, compassion, energy, love, and most of all gratitude. May it be said that McCoy Casey Bosworth left this world in a better place, for a better place…. that he made an impact… that he was an answered prayer… that he was a hero. May angels lead him in. Thank you, McCoy.”
Kara then went on to quote scripture from John 16:20. “Jesus said, ‘Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come, but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.’ Until we see you again… We love you, McCoy.”
Kara and Kyle first announced that they were pregnant on Instagram on November 1, 2019. The couple shared photos of their daughter, Decker, holding up a onesie with the words “Bebe Tigre” on it. Kara captioned the photos, “Babe Tigre coming April 2020.”
However, for those who follow Kara’s lifestyle blog, The Pushover Project, Kara first shared the news on there just five days earlier. “My new gut is not a rosé FUPA from France; it’s not a Swiss cheese fart from Switzerland or a pasta clot from Italy. As it turns out, our little Eurotrip left our hearts, our bellies, AND my uterus quite full.”
“We love you like crazy already, baby,” Kara continued. “April 2nd, 2020 can’t come soon enough.” Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bosworth family during this difficult time.
