After abandoning two children in a home in Texas, a mother has been arrested in Alabama.
According to a press release by the Roman Forest Police Department (RFPD), authorities arrested Raven Yates on Wednesday. She was staying at an apartment complex with a male friend, police claim. Meanwhile, her 12-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were left without supervision or care since September 8.
The children’s father contacted the RFPD on November 14, telling them that his youngsters had been deserted for the past two months, “much of the time without access to food or medical supplies.” The kids were not registered for school during that time.
“The father immediately flew in from California, where he had been working at the time,” RFPD stated, remarking that he “had been informed that his child’s mother had been seen in Mobile, Alabama without her children and realized they were home alone because he had been asked by his daughter to send food regularly.”

In a previous statement, the police shared that the two children are “safe” and staying with a family member in Alabama.
An arrest warrant was issued on December 8 for Yates, following an investigation by the RFPD, for two counts of abandoning and endangering a child without the intent to return.
The RFPD, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, located Yates after she continued to post about the situation on social media, which led to several useful tips and leads.

Yates remains in custody in Alabama but will be extradited back to Texas soon.
