Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, opened up to a fellow amateur mom photographer about how her love of taking photos bugs her children, Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3.
Like most moms, Kate Middleton loves taking photos of her children.
In the final episode of her series of conversations with photographers who took part in her Hold Still project, which asked people to take photos of their experiences during the pandemic, Kate Middleton speaks with fellow mom Ceri A. Edwards about Edwards’ photo of her daughter Poppy hugging her father, Mark. The project was released as a book, Hold Still, in May 2021.
When Middleton asked if Edwards identifies as a photographer, Edwards explained that “No. Well, Mark would say otherwise just because I do take a lot of pictures of the family.” Kate found herself relating to the sentiment, revealing, “It’s like me. Everyone’s like, ‘Mummy, please stop taking photographs!'” Any mom who can’t keep her camera out of her hand relates to Middleton’s struggle!
Edwards replied, “Absolutely. But I love it, and I love looking back.”

Kate Middleton had a heartwarming conversation with Edward’s daughter Poppy.
Kate made sure Poppy knew the impact of her actions on her father, telling the kid, “I loved seeing your big cuddle to your daddy. Cuddles are very, very important. I bet your daddy took that with him, and it helped him all the way through his day at work.” Poppy understood how dangerous COVID-19 is, and wanted to support her dad as he went to work, replying to Kate, “Thank you. I was so scared about that he would get the corona.”
Kate’s photography skills have gained her some notoriety.
Longtime royal photographer Arthur Edwards revealed on ITV’s The Royal Rota podcast that he’s a “great admirer” of Kate’s photographs.
He especially praised this photo, taken for Prince William’s 38th birthday. He explains that “The picture that I love most that she’s done is William and the three children on the swing. I would have killed to have taken that picture. Everybody’s laughing at their mum, and you know that only a mother or a father could get that picture, and it’s an absolute winner. Charlotte with her arm around daddy, you know, ‘daddy’s girl.’ It’s a lovely picture, I was so full of praise for her on that.”
