Singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom officially have a daughter. The arrival of the baby girl makes this the first child between Perry and Bloom, who are engaged to be married.
During the early morning hours of August 26, Perry took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of her and Bloom holding their little girl’s tiny hand along with the statement they gave to UNICEF following her birth. In the black and white photo, Perry is seen with a Daisy painted on her thumb nail.
And the nail art isn’t just a nod to her latest single, Daisies, it’s also the name Perry and Bloom gave their daughter.
As the proud parents told UNICEF, their bundle of joy’s full name is Daisy Dove Bloom. And in their statement, they write that they “are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.”
However, as the couple continued, they know not all parents are as lucky as they are. “We know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was,” Orlando and Perry wrote. “Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes.”
“Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines, and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever. Bloom is also the proud father of a young boy named Flynn, who he shares with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr. Also going on in Perry’s life, the singer is releasing yet another studio album title Smile on August 28.
In a not so subtle tweet, the new mom wrote, “Delivering a baby and a record in the same week, [don’t] f*ck with mama aka #whatmakesawoman.” Congratulations to the Bloom family!
