In a somewhat surprising turn of events, singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson admits she no longer wants to be known by her famous moniker. According to documents obtained by US Weekly and People, Clarkson has the “desire” to drop her last name.
In the documents, Clarkson reveals that her “new name more fully reflects who I am.” According to People, the singer hopes to drop Clarkson and be known as “Kelly Brianne.”

A hearing for the name change request is set to take place on March 28. This decision comes just after Kelly and her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock came to an agreement concerning their ranch in Montana.
As People reports, Kelly agreed to give the talent manager, 45, 5.12% percent of the property, equaling $908,800 of its total $17,750,000 value. Clarkson was also granted primary custody of their two children River and Remington.
Kelly recently revealed that she and her children were quarantining but thankful they have not tested positive for COVID-19. Kelly opened up about their quarantine while actress Taraji P. Henson guest-hosted her show.
“Sometimes women don’t rise,” she told Henson. “Sometimes we fall. I thought we were done with quarantining, and I’m so tired. I broke a nail. I’m so broken. This is me broken. My almond milk just expired. America, this is what I look like. You’re welcome.”
“I’m not even sick. It’s so weird,” she continued. “Anyway, we’re keeping it safe.”

Kelly revealed that they are keeping themselves occupied by watching Disney movies together. “When I watch a movie with my children, it’s like watching three movies.”
“We’re watching Encanto and then you’re listening to my son who always leaves mid-movie and just starts singing the soundtrack, and then you have River who literally just, right after the line is said, she just repeats like she’s memorizing dialogue for a play.”
While Kelly hasn’t opened up about her possible name change yet, it’s unclear if she will make the decision to change the name of her talk show as well. Given that it is now called The Kelly Clarkson Show, it is possible that it may be called The Kelly Brianne Show in the future.
