Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa’s Son Joaquin Goes off to Prom Before Going off to Michigan to Wrestle in College

Joaquin Consuelos, Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos’ youngest son, went to Prom! The couple revealed that they sent him out to the dance in his father’s tuxedo.

Mark Consuelos celebrated the occasion with an Instagram post, which he captioned, “It’s Prom night…. Quino and his lovely date Melissa”

Kelly Ripa then commented on the post “In your tux and shoes no less!”

Ripa also posted something to remember the big moment, with the caption, “Prom Night 2021. Joaquin and Melissa.”

Prom is one of the last big events before Joaquin heads off to the University of Michigan for college!

He announced in March that he will be joining the wrestling team, with the team’s Instagram post announcing the news captioned, “SIGNED: Welcome to the family, @joaquinconsuelos! #NewBlue #GoBlue.”

He reported in an Instagram post that he is “super excited to step into this next chapter with @umichwrestling! Honored to be part of this great program.”

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos never thought he would get this far, but are so proud of him

In an episode of  Live with Kelly and Ryan, Kelly opened up about their son’s experiences with dyslexia and dysgraphia. She said that “Mark and I were FaceTiming the other night … Mark got very emotional, and very choked up, because he said, ‘You know, I never thought he would be able to go to college.’ Because he was profoundly dyslexic and dysgraphic.”

Look how far Joaquin has come!

Ripa explained that “through hard work, determination, [and] remediation,” Joaquin worked through his “misunderstood learning difference”.

Ripa finished with how beneficial Joaquin’s differences have been for him. “Kids with dyslexia learn how to read the room, they pick up on social cues … their other skills become [stronger],” she said.
