The Real Reason Why Kelly Rizzo Sold the Home She Shared With Late Husband, Bob Saget, Six Months After His Death

The past 14 months have been devastating for Kelly Rizzo, who was forced to say goodbye to her loving husband, Bob Saget, on January 9, 2022. The two got married in October 2018 and were inseparable in the 3+ years leading up to his death at 65 years old. All of a sudden, she was without the love of her life.

Six months after he passed away, she decided to list his Los Angeles home up for sale – a home that Saget had lived in since 2003, when he bought it for $2.8 million and made immediate renovations to it. The home was initially listed at $7.765 million by Los Angeles realtor Adam Saget, the nephew of Bob.

The 6,608 square-foot home had six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as a three-car garage, grand motor court, pool, spa, barbeque entertainment area, and more – according to Zillow. While it stayed on the market for nearly 10 months, it was recently sold at $5.405 million on February 23.

In an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show on March 15, Kelly Rizzo was asked about her decision to move out of and sell the home they shared for several years leading up to his death. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was one she felt she needed to make in order to give herself a ‘fresh start’ at a new life.

“Something about the home that you shared sometimes can be very triggering. Even if you had wonderful memories there, even if it was such a positive experience,” she told Hall. “And it was such a positive memory, but there’s something about when somebody passes, the home itself can be a situation.”

She went on to explain that, while she has moved on from their home, she hasn’t moved on from her husband. In fact, there are still ‘so many things about Bob that he is still so present in my life.’ As for her new home, she has found a way to maintain his presence, even though he’s no longer physically there.

“If you go into my new house, there’s pictures of him everywhere. It’s like just shy of a Bob museum. But you know, he’s still everywhere. I look at videos of him all the time. I see photos of him all the time,” she continued. She praised her late husband for always making others laugh, even in the darkest of times.

Kelly Rizzo Remembers Bob Saget on One-Year Anniversary of His Death

On January 3, just a few months ago, Kelly Rizzo remembered her late husband on the one-year anniversary of his death. She shared a video montage that included photos and short clips of the two together, and wrote a touching and heartbreaking caption that explained their love for one another.

“I am the luckiest that I got to be his wife. I am the luckiest that I got to live with his warmth, and laughter, and brilliance, and love. I am the luckiest that I get to have his girls by my side. I am the luckiest that I got to watch him first hand help people, make them happy, and make the world a better place,” she wrote.

Rizzo also wrote a statement to PEOPLE that continued her loving message and tribute to Bob Saget – a comedian, actor, and philanthropist that touched the hearts of so many. “I miss how he treated me like I was the only woman in the entire world and I’ll miss how he looked at me all day every day,” she said.
