Kevin Spacey, best known for his role in House of Card, was charged early Thursday morning with four counts of sexual assault. According to Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service, Spacey was also charged with one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
These charges are the result of two different incidents, CNN reports. Three occurred in London, England in 2005 and the other two in 2008. The fourth incident occurred in 2013 in Gloucestershire, western England.
Kevin Spacey Hit With Criminal Charges Again, This For Sexual Assault
According to London’s Metropolitan Police, the victim from the 2005 assault is now in his 40s, while the two victims tied to the 2008 and 2013 incidents are now in their 30s. As CNN reports, the decision to charge Spacey now comes after “a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police Service in its investigation.”
These assaults are just a few of the accusations against Spacey. Back in 2017, Spacey was removed from his hit show House of Cards, after at least 20 people came forward accusing Spacey of unwanted sexual advances.
Many of these accusations stem from his time as the artistic director at the Old Vic Theatre in London. Spacey served as artistic director for 18 years from 1995 to 2013.

One of his accusers is actor Anthony Rapp, who alleges that Spacey made advances at him at a party in the 80s while Rapp was still underage. Spacey addressed Rapp’s claims in a statement made at the time.
“I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear this story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”
Then in 2018, Spacey was charged with indecent assault following an incident that reportedly occurred between him and a teenager in Nantucket Island, Massachusetts in 2016. As ABC News reports, the case was tossed during the trial when the accuser involved his Fifth Amendment rights halfway through testimony.
The alleged victim, who said Spacey groped him at a bar, invoked the Fifth Amendment after being questioned about his role in deleting text messages from a phone that was considered a key piece of evidence. Spacey’s lawyer then requested the case be tossed if the “sole witness” refused to answer any questions, NBC News reported.
Spacey has not yet commented on these new charges against him. The actor had just recently returned to acting following a hiatus.
