King Charles Celebrates Father’s Day With a Royal Throwback Photo With Prince William and Prince Harry

King Charles III celebrated Father’s Day with a royal throwback photo that featured his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. The photo was shared on The Royal Family’s Instagram account and featured photos of King Charles with his father, Prince Philip, and Queen Camilla with her father, Bruce Shand.

“To Dads everywhere, we wish you a special Father’s Day today,” the Royal Family wrote in the caption. The photo shows King Charles wearing a Scottish outfit while taking a walk with his two sons – who were dressed in tan pants and button-down shirts with rolled-up sleeves – at their Balmoral Estate in Scotland.

In the photo, the trio is standing on a cluster of rocks and Prince Harry is pointing at something off in the distance – his brother and father, who had a cane/walking stick in his hand, were fixated on whatever Harry was pointing at. Unfortunately for those wondering, we may never know what he was pointing at.

While King Charles opted for a throwback photo of him and his two boys, Prince William went a different route in celebration of Father’s Day. The heir to the throne shared two recent photos of him surrounded by his three royal children – Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – on Instagram.

The first photo shows William and his children smiling and looking directly at the camera in a unified manner, while the second photo captures more of the family’s personality. The photo also honors William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who was gifted the bench they sat on for her 90th birthday.

In the first photo, William and his children are smiling and looking directly at the camera in a unified manner. The second photo captures more of the family’s personality – while William and Louis maintain eye contact with the camera, George and Charlotte are seen staring up at their father with big smiles.

The photos come roughly six weeks after King Charles’ coronation on May 6. It was a special moment for the family and marked the first time a new monarch had been crowned in 70 years. Queen Elizabeth II had her coronation on June 2, 1953 and she ruled for 70 years before her death on September 8, 2022.

At the May 6 coronation, Prince George served as one of four pages of honor who represented King Charles – a role Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, were unsure of at first, but ultimately approved. Meanwhile, William became the first person to pledge loyalty to the newly-crowned King.

King Charles Celebrates First Trooping the Colour Since Coronation

On Saturday (June 17), just one day before celebrating Father’s Day, King Charles III celebrated his first ever Trooping the Colour since taking over the British throne. According to the Royal Family’s official website, Trooping the Colour ‘has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years.’

It’s a ‘birthday’ shared by all past and future monarchs, but is different than his actual birthday – which is November 14. At the ceremony, he revived an old tradition by riding on horseback and was followed by his eldest son, Prince William, his younger brother, Prince Edward, and his sister, Princess Anne

The Royal Family then stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as they enjoyed an impressive ‘fly past’ that featured 70 aircrafts flying above. Of course, it was Prince Louis (William’s youngest child) who stole the show with his funny facial expressions and goofy personality throughout the ceremony.

And while Prince Harry was seen at his father’s coronation on May 6, he was notably absent from his father’s first Trooping the Colour as the rift between them continues – Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, was absent from both the coronation and Trooping the Colour. It’s unclear if they will ever reconcile with the family.
