Actress Lisa Kudrow Opens Up About the Rules She Put in Place at Her Mother’s Funeral in Time of Coronavirus

Former Friends actress Lisa Kudrow revealed she felt like a monster at her mother’s funeral due to the stringent rules she had to put in place in order to keep everyone else safe and healthy. According to E! News, Kudrow’s mother passed away in February, for reasons unrelated to coronavirus, but due to COVID-19, the actress had to make specific changes to her mom’s funeral service.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, she admitted that her number one priority was to keep everyone safe while remembering her beloved mother.

Kudrow was so worried that it was really all she could think about that day.

“I was the one who asked the rabbi to please let everyone know there was to be no hugging because we were all in an emergency room with her. That was the hardest decision because we weren’t there yet and we had only just heard the words ‘social distancing.’ I’m a freak and all I could think that whole day was, ‘There has to be coronavirus here.'”

And while most of those there to celebrate her mother’s life were understanding of Kudrow’s rules, some were not. And it only made her feel worse about it all when she watched other people hugging and she was keeping her distance from people attempting to offer their condolences.

But as Kudrow told The Hollywood Reporter, she “couldn’t bear it if I got someone sick.”

“Most people were just looking at me like I was a monster when I’d take two steps back, put up my hands, and say, ‘Hi, thanks for coming.'” But Kudrow had a good reason for her behavior, believing that she may have had a “mild case” of COVID-19 after experiencing mild fever and other cold symptoms. Although she did not get tested because she believes there are other people who need it more than her.

Yet, despite having to have some rules in place, Kudrow acknowledges how lucky she was to be able to give her mother a funeral at all. Now, the actress is at home with her son which she described as “a slice of heaven,” and is looking forward to seeing her dad again and giving him a hug.
