Lori Vallow Found Not Competent to Stand Trial for the Murder of Her Two Children

A psychiatric evaluation has revealed Lori Vallow incompetent to stand trial. This update comes on the heels of both Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell were indicted on first-degree murder charges.

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, these new charges come nearly a year after Vallow’s children, JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan’s bodies were found. They had been missing since September 2019.

The bodies of Lori Vallow’s children were discovered on June 9, 2020 on land owned by Daybell.

However, they were never reported missing until two months later, in November, when JJ’s grandparents asked for a wellness check. Daybell was also indicted for murder in the suspicious death of his first wife, Tammy Daybell.

In the latest development, it was determined that a psychological assessment Vallow underwent found her “not competent to proceed.” The physiological assessment was meant to determine if Vallow was mentally capable to stand trial.

As East Idaho News reports, judge Steven Boyce has since put a hold on the case until Vallow undergoes treatment. However, what that treatment will be, remains unclear.

In his order, Judge Boyce wrote, “At this time, the defendant is not competent to proceed, and recommends restorative treatment.”

Prior to their arrests, Daybell was a gravedigger, who authored religion-based books about “prophecy and the end of the world.” And Vallow reportedly believed she was the reincarnation of God and that her children were Zombies.

It’s alleged that Vallow used to tell people that Tylee “died years ago,” according to police. Sadly, JJ, Tylee, and Tammy weren’t the only deaths that occurred in the Vallow-Daybell family.

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Tylee’s father passed away in April 2018 as a result of a heart attack, while J.J. was reportedly present for the shooting death of his father. J.J.’s father was shot by Vallow’s brother Alex Cox two months before J.J. and Tylee were last seen, on July 11, 2019.

Cox later died in December 2019 as a result of blood clots in his lungs.

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, J.J. was last seen on September 23, 2019, after Vallow reportedly pulled him out of school saying she was preparing to homeschool him. Tylee was last seen of September 8, 2019 while on a trip to Yellowstone.
