Mama June is speaking out about life after her beloved daughter Anna passed away of cancer at the age of 29.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mama June admitted she shouldn’t be raising her 11-year-old granddaughter. And her 8-year-old granddaughter shouldn’t be raised by her biological father.
That’s because Anna should be here to do it.
“This is the truth, Kylee’s dad shouldn’t be raising Kylee and I shouldn’t be raising Kaitlyn,” Mama June told ET. “[Their] mother, Anna, should be raising them and that’s what I say over and over and over again. I even tell Kaitlyn that very often, ‘I’ll never replace your mother.'”
But despite the heartbreaking of losing Anna, June says Kaitlyn is doing very well as they continue to figure out life together. However, she has yet to see Kylee since they laid Anna to rest.
“I can’t answer for Kylee because we have not seen her since the funeral, but Kaitlyn is doing amazing,” Mama June explained to ET. “She’s going to public school. She’s doing more amazing than she was in her private school as far as grades and stuff.”
Of course, Kaitlyn has her good and bad days, Mama June admits, so does she.
Now, June is preparing to relive those traumatic moments as her reality show, Mama June: Family Crisis, is set to detail that time in their lives this summer.

“For me personally, it’s just been emotional,” she said, revealing that the show will focus on the last “month or so of Anna as she gets worse and worse.”
“That’s going to be traumatic for a bunch of us to watch.”
Anna passed away on December 9, 2023 after a 10 month long battle with cancer. She was laid to rest four days later.
