Archie Spoke to Great-Grandma Queen Elizabeth Before Prince Philip’s Funeral… And So Did Meghan

Duchess Megan Markle and her son, Archie, phoned in their support and condolences for Queen Elizabeth II last week.

A source told People that the Duchess of Sussex and her almost-two-year-old son spoke with the queen ahead of the funeral services that were held Saturday for the late Duke of Edinburgh. The insider also revealed that Markle and Archie spoke to Prince Harry every single day he was away in England.

Meghan Markle’s Physician Advised Against Traveling to the UK for the Funeral Services as She Is Currently Pregnant. However, She Still Spoke with Queen Elizabeth.

“Meghan spoke with Harry before his grandfather’s funeral,” People‘s source said. “Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week.”

Markle reportedly watched the services for Prince Philip from her new home in Montecito, California on Saturday. She was not cleared for travel by her physician as she is expecting her second child, a baby girl, this Summer.

In February, Harry spoke with his friend, James Corden, about how his family of three stays in touch with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “Both my grandparents do Zoom,” he told the TV personality. “They’ve seen Archie running around.”

As we reported earlier this month, Harry returned to the UK for the funeral of the late Prince, leaving behind his very pregnant wife and almost-two-year-old son. After landing in the UK, Harry had to quarantine for several days at Frogmore Cottage, their home when they lived in England and a place that acts as their UK base on royal visits.

“Meghan and Harry have been in touch every day,” the source also revealed to People. “She knows the trip to England has been difficult for Harry. He didn’t want to leave Meghan and Archie alone. Meghan has insisted to him every day though that they are fine. She hasn’t wanted him to worry.”

While on the visit, Harry was reunited with his brother Prince William after nearly a year apart from his sibling.

“It has been a very difficult time,” the source also said. “The Duke was the head of the family, and if there were any time they were going to come together, it’s now.”

It is unlikely that the brothers will be together again, in person, until July when the pair is set to unveil a statue as a tribute to their late mother, Princess Diana.

We know this family has had their share of disagreements as made evident by the bombshell Oprah interview Markle and Prince Harry did last month. However, it seems they are able to look beyond their differences to pay respect to Prince Philip. We imagine Queen Elizabeth was happy to hear from great-grandson Archie.
