Meghan Markle Says the British Media Called Her Children ‘The N-Word’ And Reveals Why She Doesn’t Share Their Photos With Royal Family

Meghan Markle is getting honest about why she and her husband Prince Harry have chosen not to share photos of their children with the British press.

The couple – who share Archie and Lilibet – also spoke on how they broke away from the process of going through the royal family to share those photos themselves publicly.

Meghan explained that, initially, she was allowed to join a preexisting social media account that Harry, Kate, and Will would also contribute to — and that she was supposed to adhere to a previously established set of rules when it came to publicly sharing photos.

“There’s literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota,” she said.

“Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the n-word, a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?” she asked the interviewer rhetorically.

“You tell me how that makes sense, and then I’ll play that game.” Both Harry and Meghan previously revealed how members of the Royal Family were concerned about their son’s skin color even before his birth.

“When I was pregnant,” Markle recalled in the bombshell interview alongside her husband with Oprah, there were “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin would be when he was born. People were concerned with how dark Archie’s skin would be.”

Buckingham Palace in response released an official statement on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II which states, “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” the statement reads.

It continues, “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
