Meghan Markle Pays Respect To School Shooting Victims At Uvalde, Texas, Memorial

Meghan Markle paid a surprise visit to Uvalde, Texas, this past Thursday to honor the victims of the elementary school shooting that took the lives of 19 young students and two teachers.

Meghan, who resides in California with her husband Prince Harry and their two young children, was seen laying white flowers with a purple ribbon at a memorial outside Uvalde County Courthouse.

She then knelt down and hung her head at the cross for 10-year-old victim Uziyah Garcia.

Markle then crossed her arms as she walked around looking at the memorials to the victims.

A spokesperson for Meghan shared how she took the trip as a mother to offer her condolences and support in-person to a community experiencing unimaginable grief.

Many were divided on her presence at the memorial, with some users on social media claiming it was all a PR stunt. While others praised the humanitarian.

“Meghan Markle paid her respects, comforted victim’s families and worked at the food bank for a short time, she did all those good things & she shouldn’t be ashamed of it, that’s simply her, a good person. And we love her for that,” one user shared.

Followed by: “Y’all realize there’s all kinds of photographers there because it’s a big news story. She didn’t bring People magazine w/ her. She showed up in jeans & a hat to not stand out & did not speak to reporters. If she breathes she’s criticized for it.”

While another commented on her likeness to the late Princess Diana.

“Meghan reminds me so much of Diana in the way she cares for people, loves with everything she has, and goes against what is wrong to do what is right. I feel like she and Diana would have been best friends.”
