Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara Expecting Second Child Together: “I’m Halfway There – I Want Four Kids!”

Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara are going to be parents of two when they welcome their second child later this year. She teased the exciting news to her Instagram followers with a video of her family’s reaction to her ‘secret’ that she had kept to herself for months – she didn’t say what that secret was.

That is until Monday, when she shared a photo of her holding ultrasound photos of baby No. 2. In the caption, she confirmed they’re expecting the baby this summer. She then took to the TODAY show to share the news with Hoda Kotb and the rest of her crew, who were also shocked to learn of the news.

Trainor, 29, and Sabara, 30, met in 2014 and started dating in 2016. They got engaged in December 2017 and got married on December 22, 2018 – it was Trainor’s 25th birthday. The couple are already parents to a wonderful boy named Riley – born on February 8, 2021 – and are ready for child No. 2.!

As she continues to make her rounds, Meghan Trainor spoke to PEOPLE about her second pregnancy and how it differs from her first in 2021 “What a blessing. I’m just so grateful I can get pregnant. And I’m like, ‘I’m crushing it. This is amazing. This is my dreams.’ I’m halfway there — I want four kids!” she said.

Trainor and her husband have already started talking about the baby to their son, but he’s having a hard time understanding the concept – adding he “points to his belly now and is like, ‘Baby.’” She also shared her secret to hiding her pregnancy for several months – “Hoodies, babe!” she explained to PEOPLE.

Speaking of the differences between her first and second pregnancy, she says this one feels more like a ‘real pregnancy,’ adding she didn’t feel a lot of symptoms with her son until late in the pregnancy and didn’t even experience any cravings. This time around, those pregnancy symptoms came right away.

“I got red perioral dermatitis all over my face — so that’s been fun with makeup — and popped early and was very nauseous. I was sick, my boobies were aching. This one was a ride. It was a rocky ride,” she explained – adding she has to ‘pee every 20 minutes’ and is ‘fully out of breath just from talking.’

Meghan Trainor Releasing Pregnancy Book on April 25

When Meghan Trainor appeared on TODAY with Hoda Kotb on Monday, she was supposed to be announcing her new book – which is titled Dear Future Mama: A TMI Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, and New Motherhood from Your Bestie. While she did announce the book, it clearly wasn’t the only announcement!

Her new book gives fans an inside look into her first pregnancy with Riley – sharing her experience and journey into motherhood. She wanted other mothers or soon-to-be mothers to know they’re not alone with some of the things they go through during pregnancy, which is where she got the idea to write about it.

“After feeling so overwhelmed and alone in my first pregnancy, I was inspired to write this book to make sure no other future mama ever felt like that. I want to give future mamas permission to find the right path for them —without the judgment of others. I want this book to feel like a hug from a bestie.” she said.

“I’m an open book, and I love telling everybody everything about my grossness and all my truths. When someone goes, ‘Oh my God, me too,’ then it makes me feel like I’m not alone, and I’m like, ‘I’m not weird, my body’s not different. It’s normal,” she added in her exclusive interview with PEOPLE on Monday. .
