Aaron Carter’s Ex-Fiancé, Melanie Martin, and Mother, Jane Schneck, Are Questioning the Results of His Autopsy Report

Aaron Carter’s ex-fiancé, Melanie Martin, doesn’t believe the late singer’s autopsy report tells the whole story about how he died on November 5, 2022. The autopsy report, which was released on April 18, attributes his death to drowning in a bathtub after inhaling difluoroethane and taking Xanax (alprazolam). 

In a statement to TMZ, Martin claims the autopsy report leaves her with more questions than answers. “It claims death is by drowning but also adds he was wearing a t-shirt and necklace in the bathtub which doesn’t make sense, why would he be in a bathtub with clothes on?” she explained to the media outlet. 

Martin says the results from the report are ‘not closure for me,’ adding that she’s ‘still in shock’ over his death – which came one month before his 35th birthday – and still misses him daily. “I don’t understand the chain of events and this report only has us asking more questions,” she concluded in her statement.

According to the report, Aaron Carter was huffing (inhaling) compressed difluoroethane (propellant in cans of compressed air) and took Xanax at the time of his death. He found his way into the bathtub at some point, where he became incapacitated before slipping under the water and drowning to death. 

The news falls in line with what many believed to be true when news of his death made headlines in November. When he was found in the bathtub, there were several cans of compressed air in the bathroom and his bedroom – as well as several bottles of prescription drugs throughout the home. 

Melanie Martin isn’t the only one who believes there’s more to the story. Aaron’s mother, Jane Schneck, took to Facebook on March 1 and shared some photos from the crime scene. “Still trying to get a real investigation for the death of my son Aaron Carter,” she wrote in the post – hinting at potential foul play.

“They never investigated it as a possible crime scene because of his addiction past,” she continued. “But they allowed people to go in and out, although a lot of potential homicide information was there for years. Aaron had a lot of death threats and many many people who were  making his life miserable.”

Melanie Martin Had an On-Again, Off-Again Relationship With Aaron Carter

Melanie Martin and Aaron Carter had quite the on-again, off-again relationship in the years leading up to his death. They began dating in early 2020 and it didn’t take long for their relationship to grow – they went Instagram official in January 2020 and announced their engagement just a month later in June 2020.

That same year, the couple suffered a miscarriage and their relationship started to take several turns for the worse as they became an on-again, off-again couple. On November 22, 2021, the couple welcomed their first and only child – a son named Prince, who was born via an emergency cesarean section. 

One week later after Prince’s arrival, the couple broke up and officially called it quits in February 2022 – they continued to co-parent. “We both will continue to make prince our priority during this difficult time. Please be respectful while we transition and navigate this unfortunate situation,” Aaron said in a tweet.

Nine months after they broke up for good, Aaron Carter was found dead in his bathtub and Melanie Martin was left questioning the true cause of his death. Police are confirming that the investigation is ongoing and they’ll continue to piece together the events that occurred leading up to his death.
