Mom of 16-Year-Old Killed in Idaho Plane Crash With His Dad and Step Siblings Speaks Out: ‘He Was Essentially My Whole Life’

The mom of a teen who was killed in a plane crash along with his dad and two step-siblings is speaking out. As At The Buzzer reported, on July 5, PGA golf pro Sean Fredrickson, his son Hayden Fredrickson, and his stepchildren Sofia and Quinn Olsen, were on an airplane flying over a lake in Idaho when the aircraft went down.

The charter plane collided with another as it flew over the lake. There were no survivors. Now Hayden’s mom, Alix Fredrickson, is looking back at the months they together before the tragic plane crash.

In an interview with People, Alix said life as Hayden’s mom moved quickly. Whether it be traveling to work, school, or soccer practice, Alix and Hayden were always on the move. But when quarantine hit, things slowed down and they got to spend more quality time together.

“Looking back now, quarantine was a blessing, I guess. We had all this time together that was just so precious,” Alix told People. Alix and Sean’s son was just 16 years old, his siblings were only 15 and 11.

“You can’t even put into words the pain that I’m feeling right now. The loss, the sense of emptiness, the void that I know will never be filled. I keep waiting for him to come home.”

Their last day together before the plane crash:

While talking with People, Alix also opened up about the last day they had together before his untimely passing. Hayden hung out with his girlfriend of eight months and later asked for a special dinner because he would be going with his dad on a trip to visit his paternal grandparent the following day.

Alix then recalled the last moment she saw her son.

“I had to leave that Thursday morning before he did, and as I was backing my car out of the driveway and putting the garage door down, he leaned his head down with his goofy hair and was waving at me as the door was going down. And he leaned the other way and waved at me. The door almost went down, and I decided for some reason to open it back up. And I opened it back up and just took him all in. I don’t know why. And I waved and blew kisses, and then I left. And that would be the last time that I saw him.”

She now sees that moment with her son as her last special moment with her boy. “His playful and fun nature, our bond, our love for each other, was just so evident in that moment,” Alix told People. “I mean, what teenage boy does that? And that’s not something he did on a regular basis by any means. It was just my last special moment with him, I guess.”

And that’s what makes all of this so hard, Alix admits, her son was one of the good ones. “I couldn’t have asked for a better kid.” Hayden was Alix’s “whole life.”

In fact, the mother and son duo often talked about how Alix would fair as she prepared to send her “life” off to college in two years. “I know he worried about me, and how I would survive without him, and we obviously never envisioned it would be something like this.”
