On October 19, 36-year-old Ruthie Mae Brown was on a walk when she was later found dead after being attacked by a pack of dogs in Nauvoo, Alabama. Not all of the dogs believed to have been involved in the mother’s death have been found.
And now, according to WBMA, people who live on Jagger road say they are on edge whenever they leave their homes. According to Robin Johnson, who has lived in the area for years, it’s not uncommon to see hounds hanging out near the railroad tracks by Jagger road.

However, while locals have known the pack of canines to be dangerous towards humans and other animals, it’s believed that Brown was not familiar with the area or that dogs frequented it. “It is really scary,” Johnson told WBMA. “I’ve seen them actually attack a deer.”
“I actually had a stick in my hand which I know the owner’s name and I would call the owner’s name and they would back off. They’re really aggressive dogs. They were very aggressive. If I wouldn’t have known the owner’s name it probably would have happened to me.”
Tragically, police officers say this was something they’ve never seen before. Walker County Sheriff’s Office PIO TJ Armstrong told WBMA that he’s “seen a dog bite, I’ve seen a dog attack but I’ve never seen a situation just as horrible as this.”
Although not all of the canines have yet been found, a witness says they saw about seven or eight dogs attack the mom of four boys. Armstrong says an owner has claimed two of the four or five dogs that have been found before they were handed over to the Walker County Humane Society. It’s also believed that not all of the canines had owners.

According to Officer Armstrong, after an official cause of death is determined, the case will be handed over to the district attorney’s office who will decide if the owner will face charges.
