“I really need some help!? My almost two-year-old old son cries and whines all the time. I mean he’s always been a little whiny but now it’s to the point where I’m literally going nuts.
All he wants is to be held. And he refuses to walk; would prefer me to carry him everywhere, even from like room-to-room. I work a lot and his father is with him most of the time. When I’m around, that’s when the whining starts.
I’ve tried telling him I’m not picking him up, but he will throw a fit and scream till I do. I’m so exhausted ???? Is this normal? And if so when will it end?

Community Advice for This Mom Who Is Going Nuts With Her Son’s Nonstop Whining
To see what advice the Mamas Uncut Facebook community has for this mom in need, read the comments of the post embedded below.
Advice Summary
Most commenters suggested that a large part of the son’s behavior is probably due to some separation anxiety or desire to be close to mom once she gets home. Separation anxiety is also very normal at this age, so many shared that there could be some of that going on as well.
There were many suggestions on how to handle the whining after a long day at work. But most agreed that it’s important for the OP to give her sone some time and attention. One commenter suggested having a favorite (simple) activity that the OP and her son could do together after she gets home. Several suggested making sure her son knows the OP missed him, too, and reassuring him that they have this time together.
There were also suggestions about giving her son different options. For instance, if he wants to be carried but the OP doesn’t want to carry him, she could say “I won’t carry you, but I will hold your hand as we walk.” Overall, the consensus was that some love and attention daily will go a long way.
