Morgan Miller and her husband, Bode Miller, are opening up about a health scare their 3-year-old son, Asher, experienced recently – which resulted in them rushing him to the hospital. On Tuesday, Morgan took to her Instagram story to explain how the incident changed the way she treats the holiday season.
It was a febrile seizure that put her son in the hospital. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, a febrile seizure is a convulsion that occurs when a healthy child has a fever, which is usually triggered by an infection. The child loses consciousness and starts to shake uncontrollably.
The 35-year-old mother of six – and stepmother of two – is no stranger to these types of experiences (more on that below), but she’s happy this story had a happy ending. It made her realize that while the holidays are about giving and receiving, she already has everything she needs – love, time, and health.
“Life is constantly walking a knife edge and it’s not something we’re unfamiliar with. Yesterday, Asher had a febrile seizure which scared us half to death. We took that same ambulance to the same hospital we took Emmy to but this time we got to leave with our child,” Morgan Miller wrote on her Instagram story.
Morgan, a former professional volleyball player, married her husband Bode, a former professional alpine ski racer, in 2012 and recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary on October 7th. Their son, Asher, turned 3 years old on November 8th – he has a twin brother named Axel and seven other siblings.
“He’s home and back to his normal self. I am reminded to slow down and realize life’s little gifts during this crazy holiday season because we already have everything we need … Our loved ones, our health, and more time. Because time with the ones we love is all we could ever ask for,” Morgan continued.
In addition to twins Axel and Asher, Morgan and Bode are parents to 7-year-old son Nash, 4-year-old son Easton, and a daughter that just turned 1 year old a month ago. Bode has two children – a 14-year-old daughter, Neesyn Dace, and a 9-year-old son Samuel Nathaniel – from two previous relationships.
Morgan Miller Recounts Losing Her Daughter, Emmy, in 2018
Morgan Miller and Bode Miller share five living children together, but they would tell you they’re parents of six. On November 5, 2016, Morgan gave birth to their first daughter – Emeline “Emmy” Grier Miller. She tragically passed away after accidentally drowning in a neighbor’s pool in 2018 at just 19 months old.
“She comes up in regular conversation and she still has a bunch of her stuff around and her pictures. So I think in that sense, we try to proactively make the kids aware because the younger ones never met her, you know? Nash was pretty small, though he definitely remembers her,” said Morgan to PEOPLE in 2021.
She went on to explain how important it is to talk about her and share her stories, citing her fear of denying them a relationship with her. While there are moments that feel like it all happened yesterday for the Miller family, there are also moments that are starting to feel like they happened a long time ago.

“She’s still very much around us. She sends signs all the time and we would be doing a great disservice to our family to not actually still have her being a part, an active part, of the family because she very much is,” Morgan continues.
