Naya Rivera‘s sister Nickayla Rivera is showing up for her nephew and that’s all the public needs to know about that. Earlier in September, the Daily Mail posted photos of Nickayla and her sister’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, together.
The Mail also reported that the 25-year-old and the father of one had moved in together following the actress’s death. The report had people wondering if Nickayla and Ryan were in some sort of intimate relationship.
Naya Rivera’s Sister Speaks Out After Report Suggests She Moved in With Naya’s Ex Ryan Dorsey
“They were fooling around and chatting the whole time,” a witness reportedly told the Daily Mail of a Target run Nickalya and Ryan made together. “They’re obviously helping lift each other’s spirits.” And as a result, people were quick to slide into the comments section of her Instagram posts and leave comments regarding the reported situation.
Many people, with no direct knowledge of the situation, slammed Nickayla, calling her alleged relationship with Dorsey inappropriate. Now, Nickayla is speaking out on the matter.
Although she didn’t directly comment on the facts of her heartbreaking situation, she wants people to know her main priority above all else is making sure Naya and Ryan’s 5-year-old son Josey has all he could ever need after tragically losing his mother. On Instagram, Nickayla made this statement:
“In the darkest time of my life, the only thing that is important is my friend and family. Showing up for my nephew, even though I can’t show up for myself. I’m not concerned with the way things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure. What matters most I’ve learned is to show compassion, not to judge others, and never take a moment of life for granted. I hope you all can do the same.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Josey was present when Naya passed away. The mother and son duo were boating around Lake Piru in California on July 8 via a rented pontoon when they jumped off the boat to go for a swim.
Something went awry and although Naya was able to muster enough courage to get Josey back on the boat, Josey turned to see the actress become submerged underwater and never surface. Josey was found sometime later still in the boat, asleep, with his life vest on, and wrapped in a towel.
