Following his five-year battle, NeNe Leakes has revealed that her husband Gregg Leakes has passed away. The news of his passing comes just days after NeNe revealed he was “transitioning to the other side.”
NeNe and Gregg’s son, Brentt Leakes, also shared a few words during the final hours of his father’s life. On his Instagram Story, he wrote, “Spend time with your loved ones every chance you get. Time is so … valuable dog. I can’t express it. I’m learning the hard way watching my dad fight every day. Please go create memories with ya people.”

Five years ago, Gregg was first diagnosed with colon cancer. Sadly, following a lengthy battle, NeNe revealed earlier this year that Gregg’s stage 3 cancer had returned.
Gregg Leakes was just 66 years old at the time of his death. In a statement issued by their representative immediately following his passing, NeNe Leakes revealed she is understandably heartbroken.
“Today, the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife NeNe Leakes,” the press released read, according to Page Six.
“We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family and allow them to mourn in private during this very, very difficult time.”
During a conversation in which she reflected on Gregg’s original 2018 diagnosis, NeNe revealed that a lot changed for her family that day. “Just … everything changed. I don’t have cancer. Gregg has cancer. But I feel like our whole house has cancer. […] He’s a changed person, his attitude changed. I feel like that day I lost my husband.”
Greg and NeNe first became husband and wife in 1997. In 2011, the couple took a break from their relationship and got divorced. However, in 2013, the couple remarried after reconciliation.
Gregg and NeNe were fan favorites on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Much of Gregg’s fight was covered throughout the last several seasons of the show as well.
While Brentt is the only child Gregg and NeNe share together, Gregg is also survived by other children from previous relationships. According to a source, Gregg didn’t want a funeral and reportedly wished to be cremated, TMZ reports.
