Nick Cannon Admits He Was ‘Out of Control,’ Says He Did Take a Shot at Celibacy

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, shortly after it was revealed Nick Cannon had fathered four children in just one year, he admitted he was going to hold off having more children.

While a guest on the Drink Champs podcast in October, Nick Cannon said, “I’m trying to chill out though. I’m chilling out. I’m kinda stepping away, getting focused, going within, getting my celibacy on.”

Cannon added, “I have enough children, enough frolicking. I’m good right now. … I’m trying. I didn’t say I’m perfect.”

It’s this statement that had people very surprised when he and Bre Tiesi announced yesterday that they are expecting a baby boy very soon. This will be Nick Cannon’s 8th child. His fifth in just over 12 months.

And while Cannon and Tiesi waited until now to announce their pregnancy, Cannon is revealing that he knew Tiesi was expecting prior to his October interview with the Drink Champs podcast. During his self-named talk show, Cannon revealed that he was on his “celibacy journey” during that interview.

“My therapist was one of the [people] who said I should probably be celibate and the reason why is because I had shared that news about Bre being pregnant. That was the reason why I started my celibacy journey back then. So for anyone who’s thinking, ‘Oh he wasn’t celibate,’ I was!”

Cannon continued by saying he did feel out of control when he learned he was expecting his 8th child. “I felt like I was out of control and honestly, celibacy did help me through the journey of getting one with myself and being able to deal with this.”

However, as Cannon continued, the soon-to-be dad of 8 revealed he’s no longer celibate. He said he “almost made it to the New Year.”

Cannon and Tiesi announced their pregnancy after paparazzi photos of their gender reveal party were published on the internet. The couple had originally planned to keep the pregnancy announcement a secret out of respect for Cannon’s 5-month-old son Zen who passed away in December 2021.

“I wanted to definitely respect the grieving process with Alyssa and Bre was respectful enough to hold off and making her announcements and speaking on social media,” Cannon explained. “It was one of those things, I didn’t know what to do.”

Nick Cannon also called out his haters and doubters. He vowed to be the best father he can be to his seven earth-side children and told those who disagree with his lifestyle to simply get on board with his extraordinary journey.
