Nick Cannon Approves of Jimmy Kimmel’s Oscars’ Joke About His Ever-Growing Family Tree

Nick Cannon is proving he knows how to take a joke – unlike many people in Hollywood today. The father of 12 was the subject of a joke by Oscars’ host Jimmy Kimmel on March 12th during the 95th Academy Awards. He was recently asked what he thought of the joke, saying he has ‘no problem’ with it.

“The sequel to Avatar was the most expensive movie ever made. Disney spent $2 billion on this movie. Just to break even, all of Nick Cannon’s kids had to see Avatar four times,” said Kimmel during his funny opening monologue. It was just one of the many jokes that were received well by those in attendance.

Nick Cannon wasn’t at the ceremony to hear the joke, but TMZ caught up with him later that night as he was leaving Avra in Beverly Hills. When asked if the ‘too many kids’ jokes gets annoying, he replied, “Nah, it’s hilarious’ – adding that he created the TV show Wild ‘N Out and makes jokes for a living.

Cannon went on to confirm that he was flattered in a way that his kids were being mentioned – even if it were a joke – and called Kimmel ‘my man.’ As he made his way into his vehicle, TMZ asked him if there’s any cap to how many children he wants to have. Instead of getting annoyed, he made a joke himself.

“I don’t know, what are you doing later?” he asked in a promiscuous, but joking manner. “I don’t know, we’ll see!” the reporter replied as they both shared a laugh. Considering how many people react to jokes these days, Cannon had a textbook reaction to what was a lighthearted joke between two celebrities.

Of course, Nick Cannon wasn’t the only celebrity targeted by Kimmel in his opening monologue. In fact, he said several jokes about Will Smith, who was credited with the ‘slap heard around the world’ at last year’s Oscars when he walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock for a joke he made about his wife.

“If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence in any point of the show, you will be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor and permitted to give a 19-minute-long speech,” he said – alluding to Will Smith winning Best Actor last year for his role in King Richard (2021), followed by an extremely long speech.

Let’s Meet Nick Cannon and His Ever-Growing Family

Nick Cannon is no stranger to fatherhood. He’s currently the father of 12 children – 11 living and one that passed away in 2021. His journey into fatherhood started in 2011 when he and his then-wife, Mariah Carey, welcomed fraternal twins – Moroccan and Monroe – both of whom are turning 12 next month.

In 2017, he welcomed his first child (third overall) with Brittany Bell – Golden Sagon, who turned six on February 21. They welcomed a second child, Powerful Queen, on December 23, 2020. Six months later, on June 14, 2021, he welcomed another set of twins – Zion and Zillion – with Abby De La Rosa
