Nick Cannon Isn’t Focused on His Dating Life: “I’m Really Trying to Focus on Myself and My Children”

Nick Cannon isn’t interested in entering the dating scene at this point in his life. Instead, he’s really only focused on two primary things – his work and his children. He explained as much in a recent interview on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on April 11, which is hosted by Howard Stern and Robin Quivers

“I’m not out there like that. I’m really trying to focus on myself and my children… my bandwidth doesn’t even allow me to kind of be in that space,” he said when asked about his dating life. “It sounds wild, but my main focus is either my children or work,” he continued – adding that he strikes a ‘healthy balance.’

He also talked about his brief experience with celibacy, which helped contribute to his desire to stay single – he was celibate for about nine months after one of his sons passed away from brain cancer in late 2021. He joked that his plan eventually backfired when he added more children to his family in 2022.

Nick Cannon was also asked whether or not he has plans of adding more children to his family in the near future – a question he seems to get asked in every interview he does. His answer never changes as he remains honest – he has no idea what the future holds and can’t confirm nor deny having more kids.

“I don’t know. Every time I answer this question, I can never answer it correctly because I don’t know,” he said. While he’s happy with the children he has now, he did admit that more children might be an option if he meets an ‘amazing’ woman – to which Howard Stern asked if Taylor Swift would fit in that category.

“Absolutely, I’m in — let’s go… That’s the one!” Cannon joked – adding that his ‘Spidey-sense is tingling’ after Stern confirms she’s currently single. While there’s a very slim chance that ever happens, it’s clear that having more children isn’t 100% out of the equation, though he won’t welcome one with just anyone!

The interview comes just two weeks after his interview with Audacy’s The Home Team Morning Show on 104.1 – where he shared a similar sentiment when asked if he’ll be adding to his family. While he didn’t have an answer for them, he admitted that he never planned on having more than two – he now has 11.

A Quick Update on Nick Cannon and His Growing Family

Nick Cannon started having children when he was still married to ex-wife Mariah Carey – his first two children (twins) were born on April 30, 2011, exactly three years after the couple tied the knot on April 30, 2008. They filed for divorce in 2014 and it was finalized in 2016, but his family only grew from there.

He first added to his family in 2017 when he welcomed his first child with Brittany Bell. Between 2020 and 2022, Cannon had two more kids with Bell, two children with Alyssa Scott (one passed away), three children (including twins) with Abby De La Rosa, a son with Bre Tiesi, and a daughter with LaNisha Cole

While many people try to paint him in a negative light as a father, he claims he spends more time with his children than most fathers and takes his role as a father seriously. He ensures the mother of his children have everything they need and admitted he doesn’t give them a monthly allowance or spending limit.

He has also been open about the love, respect, and admiration he has for the mothers of his children. There’s no love lost with any of them and, while he has no interest in dating or getting married again, he dedicates himself to being a good father and being devoted to his work – that’s all you could hope for!
