Christina Fulton is speaking out after reports suggested she was in a physical altercation with her and Nicolas Cage’s 33-year-old son, Weston Cage.
In a statement shared with People, Fulton clarified that “Weston and I had no argument prior to the incident.” She continued adding that “on Sunday, April 28, I was reached out to by several of Weston’s best friends for assistance because they were experiencing Weston in a mental-health crisis.”
As Fulton continued, “upon my arrival, I was met by my son who clearly was in a state of a mental-health breakdown, which in turn became a horrific experience.” The mom said she “acted swiftly to ensure [Weston’s] safety.”
Fulton concluded her statement, saying, “I have always supported helping my son with his mental-health struggles. I am doing all I can to get him the continued support he needs.”
Following the incident, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People that “a battery report was taken.” However, no arrests were made.
Fulton did not give an update on how her son is doing.
Weston Cage is a father of four. Back in 2015, when he opened up about his desire to get sober, he told People that the birth of his first child helped him get “focused on recovery.”
“Having the combination of [now-ex] Danielle and Lucian and my father in my life, just that trinity right there, basically is going to keep me here,” Weston told People after admitting “it got to the point where people thought I was digging my grave.”
Fulton’s statement comes after a photo of her with a black eye went viral on social media. However, it’s unclear exactly when that photo was taken and how exactly the black eye occurred.
