You might be familiar with a cute little stud or a dazzling nosering but there are so many more possibilities when it comes to nose piercings. Yes, folks are getting rather creative these days with the types of piercings they get in their noses. Some people gauge new holes in their noses and others turn to subdermal implants to pierce the nose at the bridge. Still, others have so many different piercings in their nose that it looks almost like a pin cushion! The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to nose piercings today!
We wanted to get a better understanding of the limits of nose piercings so we turned to social media to learn what piercings are hot today and which ones are pushing the limits of what we might not even believe possible. Trust us when we tell you that people have found some truly remarkable ways to alter their noses. Below, you will find a list of piercings. We will start out with some standard piercings along with their names so you know what to ask for when you’re ready to get pricked. As the list goes on, we’ll reveal wilder piercings that might make some uncomfortable. So, consider yourself warned that some of these nose piercings are rather extreme!

The most common nose piercings are on the nostrils. Nostril piercings are pretty standard as you see in the above example. Nothing too scary, just cuteness!
After nostril piercings, septum piercings are the next most popular nose piercings. As you can see, they are also very cute, especially with a dainty piece of jewelry like this.
High Nostril Piercings
Very similar to a nostril piercing, a high nostril piercing is exactly what its name states: it’s located rather high up your nostril. These nose piercings are more painful than a standard nostril.
Similar to the nostril piercing but further up and connected is the nasallang piercing. A nasallang piercing is a single bar placed through the right nostril, the septum, and the left nostril. It is much more painful than a standard nostril or septum piercing because it essentially goes through the nose!
Austin Bar Piercings
Further down the nose, another bar piercing called an Austin bar sits right over the nostrils. It’s less common than many of the other nose piercings but still not too crazy.
A rhino piercing is a cartilage piercing done vertically through the tip of the nose. Because there is a considerable amount of cartilage at the tip, these piercings take longer to heal than other nose piercings. We’re beginning to get into the crazier piercings, so brace yourself!
Third Eye Piercings
A third eye piercing is also known as Bindi piercing or unicorn piercing. The piercing is a perforation made between the eyebrows vertically at the bridge of the nose. Not too scary but it does look like it hurts.
A bridge piercing is a nose piercing through the skin on the bridge of the nose, usually directly between the wearer’s eyes. This looks like it really hurts! Okay, things are about to go off the rails, so hang on tight.
The Holy Trinity
Most people that have multiple nose piercings generally have two nostrils and a septum. It’s a combination we saw hundreds of times while researching this list.
We find two nostril nose piercings here that look so bizarre thanks to these sword-like pieces of jewelry that extend all the way down, past that septum piercing, to the lips. Notice that it’s the same three nose piercings as the last example.
Six In The Nostrils
This person has several nose piercings including three on each nostril. A septum ring and a bridge bar are also stabbed into the nose.
This person has a nasallang, Austin bar, and septum piercing. It’s getting a little crowded but it’s not too extreme.
“Life Is Strange”
This person’s face tattoo, that says “life is strange” pretty much sums it up! We find a nasallang piercing, three nostril piercing, and a gauged septum ring that stretches extreme.
A Big Bar
In addition to the nasallang, we find a really big bar piercing that goes through the entire nose. We’re not sure if this is considered a gauged Austin bar or not. But, it certainly looks big and bold.
There’s a lot going on here but gather your attention to the huge gauges in this person’s nostrils. You can see inside this person’s nose! Behind them are smaller nostril piercings and if you look through those gauges, you will see a gauged septum piercing inside. We also find surface piercings and a bridge bar piercing. That poor nose!
See Right Through This Nose
Here are some really wide gauges in the nose (and elsewhere). Gauges are stretched over time by leveling up to a larger size little by little. If you want, you can take it to the point where people can look right through your nose like this.
Right Through It
If you need a pen holder, consider getting some nose piercings! As you can see with these gauged nostril piercings, they are large enough to allow objects to pass through them. Ouch!

Here’s a different view of a stretched septum. Yes, you too can have an extra hole in your nose! Just gauge out that septum. Notice there are smaller nostril and upper nostril nose piercings as well.
Here, we find some wonderfully weird jewelry in the form of a large gauge that goes through the nose and ends in points. Then, you’ll also notice nostril nose piercings and a bridge piercing.
Direct Your Eyes to the Nose
There’s a lot to unpack in this image but draw your attention to the nose piercings, if you can! You will find no fewer than nine separate piercings in just one nose. This person clearly loves their metal candy.
Let’s Face It
There are five bar piercings that line this person’s nose. There is also a septum piercing and two nostril piercings as well. We honestly don’t know how this person can keep their face clean. But, do you!
For people who have a gauged septum, additional piercings can be added into the septum and attached to it. As you can see here, there are three septril piercings that connect to this person’s septum. Further, there is a giant gauge in this person’s nasallang piercing.
We find a chain going through a gauged nasallang and septum here that looks odd, even among the other nose piercings on this list.
Full-On Body Mod
Here we find a few bridge piercings that go down the nose. There’s also a gauged septum and a nostril ring with a chain connecting to an ear piercing. This person is clearly involved with the body mod community.

There you go! What did you think of these nose piercings? We hope you have a better understanding of what is possible and what might be a step too far. With piercings, it feels like the adage “where there’s a will there’s a way” is superbly accurate. People will try just about anything. If you’re into body mod, you might find that some of these appeal to you. If not, you can always go with some of the more “tame” nose piercings we showed you at the top of the list. Happy piercing!
