Oliver Hudson Admits He And Kate Hudson Clash Over Parenting Styles

Siblings Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson may only be three years apart but their parenting styles couldn’t be more different.

Oliver, 45, told shared with Andy Cohen this past Thursday, January 6, how the two often experience “conflict” over how they parent.

“It’s more about kids,” says Oliver, who is the father of Wilder, 14, Bodhi, 11, and Rio, 8, with wife Erinn Bartlett.

While Kate, 42, shares son Ryder, 18, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, son Bingham, 10, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, and daughter Rani, 3, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. Back in March of last year, Oliver dished to Us Weekly about their “different ideas” bringing up their little ones.

“There’s a core for sure of just wanting our kids to be good human beings, be polite and understand that they’re very lucky people to be born into the sort of family we’re born into … but it’s sort of the way that we go about doing things,” Oliver said at the time, revealing they have a “tight family” bond. “What we let our kids watch, the freedoms we allow them. We’re different in that way. … If I need to speak up, I will. She will as well.”

Oliver also considers himself a “cool uncle” to Ryder, Bingham and Rani, telling the outlet in November 2018 how he thinks having fun is “the point” of nieces and nephews.

“I let my kids watch movies that I probably shouldn’t, so when Kate’s kids come to my house, I’m sure they’re pretty excited because I let them watch things that Kate will not let them watch,” the Going Greek star said at the time. “[It’s] worth the risk. You need an uncle that’s gonna let them do things.”

This time last year, Kate revealed how her biggest priority is co-parenting with three different dads.

Hudson went on to reveal what life looks like as a mother amid the coronavirus pandemic — along with balancing work and parenting three kiddos.

“You know, I’ve got multiple dads, I’ve got kids all over the place,” Kate said to Sunday Today. “The only expectations I really have that are really high in my life is with my kids,” she said.

“And with, like, family stuff. Other than that, it’s like, I just let it go. I work my a** off and then I walk away and I hope for the best.”

Sounds about right, Kate!
