There are pretty much three major categories of baby care: feeding, sleeping, and changing diapers. Starting this fall, Pampers is making it even easier to ensure your baby’s diapers are kept dry and tracked with the launch of their first smart diaper.
The brand’s new Lumi diaper has sensors embedded in the front sense wetness. The diaper’s sensor pairs with a Wi-Fi baby monitor and app to communicate with parents about their baby’s daily diaper status.

In a Tweet from Pampers, the company shared that this is “the world’s first all-in-one connected care system that is revolutionizing baby monitoring.” The company partnered with Logitech and Verily to develop the innovative system.
Pampers went on to explain that the sensor sends a signal to the app when a diaper needs to be changed. The system, which currently tracks urine only, can even tell if the baby is “wet” or “very wet.” The app tracks how many times you change the baby per day and when each diaper is changed, as well as sleep and feedings.
Some parents and reviewers have voiced concern about integrating such technology into a child’s life so young. There is also concern about sharing personal data of this nature online. Pampers, though, says the data will be secure.
The company currently has a waitlist for Lumi, which you can join here. Pampers smart diaper will launch this fall.
