Paramedics Save Unborn Baby After Pregnant Mom Killed In Domestic Murder-Suicide

Pregnant Amber Michelle Coffman was only 35-years-old when she was killed in a domestic murder-suicide in Scottsboro, Alabama.

Coffman was allegedly killed by 33-year-old Owen Deangelo Williamson before he turned the gun on himself. Police were notified on February 10 at 6:15 a.m. about a suspicious vehicle parked in the roadway.

Both Coffman and Williamson were discovered dead of apparent gunshot wounds in the vehicle when authorities arrived according to a press release from the Scottsboro Police Department noted.

“The female victim was eight months pregnant and transported to Highlands Medical Center in an attempt to rescue the unborn child,” according to the release.

At the hospital, first responders and medical staff worked together — saving Coffman’s unborn child.

The baby was born at less than 4 pounds as Coffman was eight months pregnant at the time she was killed.

Scottsboro Fire Chief Gene Necklaus informed the news station how the paramedics and firefighters who first arrived were able to save the infant by performing CPR on Coffman.

Police are still investigating what happened and the motive for the crime is unknown at this time.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that this is a murder-suicide,” the police press release stated. People who lived nearby revealed how the incident happened within walking distance of loved ones of the couple.

Police did not reveal the baby’s gender.

Authorities have also yet to confirm if Williamson was the child’s father. Allegedly, he was Coffman’s boyfriend.

GoFundMe account was created to help raise money for Coffman’s funeral and for her four additional children.

“This fund will go directly towards those needs,” page creator Tiffany Garrard wrote. “We cannot thank you enough for your donations.”
