The singer recently posted to Twitter, saying the parents were exploiting the teen after seeing the young YouTube personality Piper Rockelle in a bikini.
The mom of two shared her thoughts on Sunday night after she was concerned for the teen, sharing:
“How many kids like Piper Rockelle are being exploited by their parents?” Pink posted. “And at what point do the rest of us say … ‘this isn’t okay for a 13-year-old to be posing in a bikini whilst her mother takes the photo?'”
Pink did not specify which photo out of the many bikini photos on the young personality’s Instagram page.
The teen responded to Pink viaTMZ this past Tuesday.
“I don’t think Pink has ever seen one of my YouTube videos because if she did she’d see it’s just my friends and me having fun and acting like ourselves,” Piper admitted. “The content we make is the kind of stuff anyone can watch.”
“My mom doesn’t make me do anything,” Piper additionally shared with Insider in an emailed statement provided by a representative. “In terms of me in swimsuits, it’s summer! My friends and I live in the water.”
“Pictures of teenagers in bikinis having fun are not sexual,” she continued. “They’re only sexual if you view us that way.”
It seemed that on Twitter, people had mixed opinions to Pink’s tweet.
One user said: “Whether these adults know it or not, admit it or not, care or not, they are complicit in the exploitation of underage girls. I’ve seen where these pics end up. These images of young teen + pre teen girls are not ‘modelling’ pics. They’re masturbation material for predators.”
Followed by: “Why not worry about what you do with your child and how you choose to raise them… Piper is doing well on her own without help from you. She’s in a bikini at the pool, taking pictures. Teenagers having fun. You and Carey go do you and yours whatever that is!”
While another said: “I went and looked at this girl’s Instagram and there are lots of sexually suggestive poses on it, it is completely inappropriate and I’m sure there are plenty of perverts out there that are loving the pictures she puts up.”
