Prince Charles, as well as Prince William, spearheaded the opening of parliament this Tuesday in place of Queen Elizabeth, 96, who missed the event for the first time in almost six decades.
Citing a mobility issue, Charles, 73, instead arrived at the Palace of Westminster to read out the government’s legislative agenda.
Prince Charles Delivers Queen’s Speech Amid Confusion At the Opening Of Parliament
Charles began by reading out each bill by saying: “Her majesty’s government will….”
However, prior to the events taking place, there was reportedly confusion, CNN reported. The confusion began with the other people sitting in the Chamber of the House of Lords.
According to CNN, they weren’t sure if Prince Charles would sit beside the ceremonial throne or stand in front of it. And when he arrived and sat on the throne there was an audible surprise among those watching in person.
Additional confusion came when those who had tickets for the event weren’t notified about the fact that the Queen would not be attending herself, but instead her son. Nonetheless, it was widely reported that the Queen is dealing with health issues and would not be present and that her son, the future King, stepped in for her.

Earlier this year, Prince Harry confronted Prince Charles and Prince William about unnecessary comments made about his future child’s skin color. The claim was made by author Christopher Andersen in his new book titled “Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan.”
Andersen alleges in his book that it was Charles who speculated about Archie’s skin tone before he was born.
“I was able to trace this back to a comment that was made by Prince Charles to [Duchess] Camilla on the day that the announcement of Harry and Meghan’s engagement was made,” Andersen told Us Weekly on Wednesday. “And what he did was casually turn to her like any grandparent to be would do and say, ‘I wonder what their children will look like, hair color, eye color, complexion.’”

“He did it fondly, but the problem is it was… misconstrued, contorted over a period of time by the bureaucrats and the palace – the people who [Princess] Diana used to call the ‘men in gray’ – and they really weaponized that and turned it into something that was quite nasty by the time it reached Harry’s ear,” he added.
Andersen went on to claim that Harry, 37, confronted his father, 73, and older brother, 39, about the remark in question. And their response was to tell him he was “oversensitive” and “overreacting.”
“That complicated what was already a very complicated situation,” said Andersen. A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace later informed Fox News that “we never comment on these sort of books.”
