Prince Harry Expected to Release His Memoir ‘Spare’ in January 2023: ‘This Is His Story At Last’

When Prince Harry announced his plans to release a memoir in 2021, millions of people across the world began to speculate what juicy details the book will provide readers with. In a recent press release, the book publisher shared new details that are sure to have everyone talking.

According to Penguin Random House, it’ll be titled Spare and released on January 10, 2023. “As Diana, Princess of Wales was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling – and how their lives would play out… For Harry, this is his story at last.”

Many people believe the title is referencing an old saying that describes a monarchy’s need for an ‘heir and a spare.’ With his older brother, Prince William, in line to succeed his father – King Charles – that leaves Prince Harry as the ‘spare.’ The memoir will share his side of the story.

Prince Harry has already promised his readers that he’ll remain ‘wholly truthful’ and ‘accurate’ in the memoir, adding it will reflect the many “highs and lows” he has experienced as a member of the Royal Family. He’s expected to detail his decision to leave and not return to his royal duties.

“Spare takes readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow and horror,” said Penguin Random House in its original press release back in 2021.

Considering all that has happened at Buckingham Palace in recent months, including the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, the book’s release will likely receive a variety of mixed reviews. Nonetheless, readers should prepare themselves for ‘raw, unflinching honesty.’

The memoir, which is expected to be a guaranteed best seller the second it hits shelves, will be available worldwide in 16 different languages. There will also be an audio version available, which will be read by Prince Harry himself. If you’re like us, then you can’t wait for the release!

For those that are already considering purchasing the newest memoir by Prince Harry, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s going towards a good cause – whether you end up liking the book or not. According to the book publisher, more than $1.8 million will be split between the two charities.

The first donation, which will amount to roughly $1.5 million, is being sent to Sentebale – a charity co-founded by Prince Harry in 2006. According to the charity’s website, they work ‘with vulnerable children and young people in Botswana and Lesotho,’ providing vital health services.

The second donation, amounting to roughly $350,000, is being sent to WellChild – the UK’s national children’s charity. According to their website, they’re “making it possible for children and young people with exceptional health needs to be cared for at home instead of the hospital.”

Many people expect the book to garner the same level of attention as his interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. Fans are going to learn a lot about Prince Harry and the different challenges – as well as bright moments – in his life, and what the future holds for his family.
