Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank Expecting Their Second Royal Child This Summer

Princess Eugenie, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are pregnant! It’ll be the couple’s second child after giving birth to their son, August Philip Hawke on February 9, 2021. The incoming baby will be the late Queen’s 13th grandchild, but the first since her death.

The announcement was made in a statement by Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. “Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce they are expecting their second child this summer. The family is delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother,” the Palace wrote.

The statement was followed by an Instagram post by Princess Eugenie, which featured her soon-to-be 2-year-old son hugging her pregnant belly. “We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer,” she wrote in the caption. We’re very excited for the Royal couple and family!

Princess Eugenie, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, met her husband in 2010 during a skiing trip to Verbier, Switzerland. The couple got engaged after Brooksbank proposed to her during a trip to Nicaragua. At the time, Eugenie described their love for one another as love at first sight.

On October 12, 2018, the lovely couple made it official by tying the knot inside St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The wedding came just a few months after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married in the same place – their wedding date fell on May 19, 2018. They share two children together.

Soon, Princess Eugenie will be having a second child of her own and the Royal Family will grow by one. Both her mother, Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson, and her brother-in-law, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, commented on the Instagram announcement. Fergie wrote, “Granny heaven ❤️,” while Mozzi shared two heart emojis.

The newest addition to Princess Eugenie’s family will be the 13th in line to the British throne – right behind her/his older brother, August, and right ahead of Prince Andrew, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II. As it stands right now, Princess Eugenie is 11th in line, right behind her niece, Sienna.

Fergie Penned Open Letter to Princess Eugenie and Sister in 2021

In 2021, Sarah Ferguson melted everyone’s heart when she penned an open letter to her two daughters – Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. In the letter, she talked about becoming a grandmother, or ‘granny’ as she put it, and spoke gentle words only a grandmother could understand. It was beautiful.

“Every day I thank the universe for allowing me to be your mother. You have always been the blood in my veins. From the time you were wee tots, you made my life complete,” she wrote in the letter, adding that she looks at ‘how full of humility, laughter and joy you are in your hearts, and I marvel at you both.”

Now, in you as mothers, I see strength, courage and steadfastness, integrity and goodness, and the way you embrace every challenge and moment. It is an extraordinary feeling when your child becomes a mother. Suddenly my little girlies have their own little ones… such a feeling to get used to,” she added.

Between Beatrice, who has one daughter, and Eugenie, who has one son and a son/daughter on the way, Fergie is about to be a proud grandmother of three. “Being 61 makes me a young grandma, and I love it. I smile from my heart every day, because that is how it feels to be a granny,” she continued in the letter.
