Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson voice growing frustration with their mother, Mama June Shannon in the latest episode of Mama June: Family Crisis. In a freshly released clip for the reality TV series, Mama June’s daughters describe their anger after being estranged from their mother for over a year.
The comments come after a whirlwind of sad developments for Mama June who was charged with alleged possession of a controlled substance in March of 2019.
Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo are angry that their mother has not turned things around.
In a new clip, Pumpkin talks about her mother, saying, “I love her to death, I really do, and I would do anything for her, but at this point I want to slap her in the face too.”
“I miss the mama that used to go grocery shopping with us,” Honey Boo Boo laments.
Pumpkin adds, “Or the one that used to go to the arcade with us. I hope that she sees us doing better for ourselves and that maybe she’ll want better for herself too. Maybe that can inspire her or make her be like, ‘the girls are doing good, maybe I should be there.’ Try and be back in our lives and be there for the important stuff like this.”

After a failed attempt to get Mama June into rehab, her daughters don’t know what else they can do.
Mama June and her boyfriend “Geno” Doak were both arrested for possession of crack cocaine in March 2019. In September, the couple was charged with felonies. A plea of not guilty was filed in October.
Both daughters staged an intervention after the arrest and begged their mother to go to rehab. Unfortunately, Mama June did not complete the program and ended up back with Geno after a single night.
Pumpkin still believes rehab is necessary to help her mom.
Pumpkin still believes that rehab is the best place for her mother. “Obviously we all want her to go to rehab. We want her to be better, but that’s ultimately going to be her decision,” she explained.
After Mama June was arrested in March with fears about money being stolen from Honey Boo Boo mounted, Pumpkin became Honey Boo Boo’s legal guardian. Knowing how things have escalated with Geno and Mama June, this was a smart move on the part of her daughters.
Mama June last made news when she and Geno trashed hotel rooms they were staying in.
In December, the couple allegedly trashed a hotel room they were staying in and bills were left unpaid. Apparently, the couple has been spending time at various casinos. Last month, Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo’s aunt, Doe Doe said that the couple was blowing through money.
“Why come home when they can go to the casino and Geno can spend all the money?” Doe Doe said.
Pumpkin agreed and added, “How much more money are they gonna blow through before she is completely broke?”
It’s a sad situation and we hope the issues are resolved soon.
All families are complicated, but for Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo their situation is especially tense. We know it can be a very difficult task to help someone suffering with substance abuse. We completely understand Pumpkin and Honey Boo Boo’s frustration. They’ve tried so many things to help their mother.
As Pumpkin said, it will ultimately be up to Mama June to seek the help she needs and then repair the relationships she’s damaged. We hope that moment happens sooner rather than later so that this family can mend.
