Reba McEntire Shares Hilarious TikTok Before Singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl

In just a few hours, Reba McEntire will take center stage at the Super Bowl to sing the National Anthem in front of millions of people.

It’s an honor for most singer to be asked to sing the The Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl. And it’s one of the most popular bets to make each year as well.

And that’s exactly what Reba and her boyfriend Rex Linn joked about on TikTok the morning before the Super Bowl:

@reba When Rex wants to bet on the National Anthem length… #superbowl #nationalanthem #friends ♬ original sound – Friends

The hilarious video showed Rex attempting to get information out of Reba so that he knows which way to bet. The adorable couple used a snippet from the hit sitcom Friends.

So what do you think? Will Reba’s rendition of the National Anthem will be shorter or longer than 90.5 seconds?

Reba McEntire and Boyfriend Rex Linn Replaced Hoda Kotb for a Day On the ‘TODAY’ Show

On April 17, Hoda Kotb was missing from TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, but was replaced by none other than Reba McEntire and her boyfriend, Rex Linn. The couple have been together since 2020 and shared some details about their relationship – including how it started and what their nickname is for one another.

They originally met in 1991 while on the set of The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw – the fourth film of a popular American Western series starring Kenny Rogers. While they have remained friends throughout the years, their relationship didn’t turn romantic until right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“We stayed in communication all those years, and then in 2020, right before the pandemic, we had dinner together and have been together ever since. I couldn’t get close enough to him,” she said of her boyfriend while talking to Jenna Bush Hager. Reba turned 68 a few weeks ago, while Rex turns 67 later this year.

As far as their nicknames go, it appears Rex calls Reba ‘Tater Tot’ and Reba calls Rex ‘Sugar Tot’ – referring to themselves as ‘The Tots.’ It’s something she previously revealed in 2021 during an episode of her Living & Learning with Reba McEntire podcast – where she explained the origin of the nicknames.

The couple were enjoying dinner at a restaurant when she ordered tater tots. “You ordered Tater Tots, you delved into them like a great white shark with ketchup. And I just thought, that’s it. It’s ‘Tater Tot,’” Linn said in 2021. The idea for Linn’s nickname came when Reba’s sister called him ‘Sugar Tot’ on the phone.

The two expanded on their love of tater tots on the TODAY show. Jenna asked Rex how he was doing and he replied that he’s doing good and already had tater tots this morning for breakfast. “What is it with these tots? Let’s bring some out here ” Jenna said as a team member brought out a dish of tater tots.

It doesn’t get any better than that,” he said – adding that ‘they are so good.’ Reba confirmed they had some in the dressing room and also confirmed that they have an obsession with the tater tots from Sonic. They even went to Sonic for Valentine’s Day – which Linn described as the best V-Day dinner ever.

Reba McEntire Talks ‘Tater Tot’ in Upcoming Book

Reba McEntire was also on the TODAY show to promote her upcoming book and companion album, which are scheduled for an October 6 and October 10 release, respectively. Her album, titled Not That Fancy, sees her team with producer Dave Cobb to provide a stripped-down version of her iconic songs.

The book is titled Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots and she writes about how some of the greatest things in life aren’t that fancy. She also shares some details about her relationship with Rex – including‘some cute stories about him, and some great pictures.’

Speaking with Carson Daly on the TODAY show on Monday, McEntire described her upcoming book as a ‘fun book’ that’s filled with ‘recipes, new pictures people haven’t seen before, talking about my family, my faith, my friends.” The book includes a foreword by fellow country music sensation, Garth Brooks

She also talked about the things her parents taught her growing up. “Be prepared. Be ready. Be on time. And if you say you’re going to do something, follow it up no matter if you don’t want to do it or if a better offer comes up. If you say you’re going to do something, do it. Honesty, and your work means something.”
