Ree Drummond, who rose to fame with her The Pioneer Woman blog, took to her Instagram on Sunday (September 17) to wish her son, Bryce Drummond, a happy birthday. She posted a photo of her next to the now-21-year-old that caused everyone to do a double-take – especially once they read the caption.
“Everyone please wish my son Woody Harrelson a happy birthday! Loved seeing you today, son!!” she wrote in the caption. That might look like a typo since her son’s name isn’t Woody Harrelson, but when you look at the photo you can see why she called him that – he looks like a spitting image of Woody!
For those who don’t know, Woody Harrelson is a beloved actor best known for his roles in The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996), The Messenger (2009), White Men Can’t Jump (1992), and Zombieland (2009). The resemblance between Woody and Bryce is remarkable, especially when you see a side-by-side photo.

In the photo, you’ll notice that Bryce Drummond has blonde hair and blue eyes – just like Harrelson did in his younger years. You’ll also notice Bryce’s square-shaped jaw and massive dimple on his right cheek – similar to Harrelson’s facial features. The main difference is height – Bryce is 6’3’’, while Woody is 5’10’’.
While a lot of commenters were quick to agree with Ree Drummond, some users thought he looked like a different celebrity – Anthony Michael Hall, who’s best known for his roles in Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985), and Weird Science (1985). The resemblance is there, but not as much as Woody.
Either way, it’s crazy to think that Bryce Drummond is 21 years old already – especially for those who have followed Ree Drummond and her blog over the past 17 years. Considering his size, it’s no surprise that he’s a football player – as you can tell from the photo, he’s a tight end at Oklahoma State University.
He started his college career as a red-shirt at North Texas and played in 12 games (primarily as a special teams player) as a red-shirt freshman the following year. He transferred to OSU this season to be closer to his family – who live in Pawhuska, Oklahoma (about 1.5 hours away from Oklahoma State University.
Ree Drummond Embraces Bryce Drummond’s Comedic Side
On April 25, 2022, Ree Drummond published an article on her popular The Pioneer Woman blog about her son, Bryce Drummond – it was titled ‘Bryce and the Easter Ham.’ The post was centered around his handling of the family’s 30-pound Easter ham and his mullet, but she also praised him for being comedic.
“Do you have that one kid in your family that just cracks you up, no matter what they do? Bryce is that kid for me. It could just be an expression he makes, or a phrase he utters, or a gesture or a question or a look…but something about Bryce just makes me laugh,” she wrote in the intro of the Easter blog post.
She also made fun of his mullet – a hairstyle she doesn’t like all that much. “Basically, I don’t understand it, I don’t subscribe to it, I don’t endorse it, I don’t support it, I don’t like it, I am perplexed by it, I am flummoxed by it, and I think they should be illegal,” she said of the hairdo – which is very much in style.

More recently, she wrote a blog post about the family festivities that revolved around Bryce’s 21st birthday. The close-knit family – which includes four other children (Bryce is the oldest) – all took to social media to wish their sibling a happy birthday, but Ree Drummond was the only one to call him Woody!
