Reese Witherspoon is celebrating alongside her 21-year-old daughter, Ava Phillippe, after selling off her production company — in turn making her the world’s richest woman actor.
The two were captured creating cocktails together just a week after selling off her production company, Hello Sunshine.
Hello Sunshine had been sold for upwards of $900 million and was founded in 2016 by Reese, who created the company with the intention of changing the way “all women are seen in media.”
Reese and her team are responsible for producing women-led projects, including multiple critically acclaimed series, such as Big Little Lies, The Morning Show, and Little Fires Everywhere, as well as the Oscar-nominated movie Gone Girl.
Hello Sunshine is described on its website, as “a media company that puts women at the center of every story [they] create, celebrate and discover.”

“We tell stories we love — from big to small, funny to complex — all shining a light on where women are now and helping them chart a new path forward,” the website reads.
The unnamed media company that acquired Hello Sunshine last week will be led by two former Disney executives, Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs. It is also backed by the private equity firm Blackstone Group Inc. Reese made the post to Instagram last Monday with the caption:
“What a tremendous day! ☀️ I started @HelloSunshine to change the way all women are seen in media. Over the past few years, we have watched our mission thrive through books, TV, film and social platforms. Today, we’re taking a huge step forward by partnering with @blackstone, which will enable us to tell even more entertaining, impactful and illuminating stories about women’s lives globally. ???? I couldn’t be more excited about what this means for our future.”

But many fans weren’t too happy about the move, as the new media group that now owns Hello Sunshine will be spearheaded by two men.
One user commented: “So Reese Witherspoon sold her company that made projects about women by women to two white men? Very disappointed.”
While another said: “It’s weird that Reese Witherspoon started a company to change the way women are seen in media, then sold it to two men.”
