How can we go about getting full custody?

Advice, please! We went to court a couple of years ago over my stepdaughter, she’s 3. We also live in Alabama. In the agreement, it states that they were supposed to provide proof of insurance through her stepdad. He is in the Army, so my stepdaughter has Tricare. After several attempts in the past year, they have never provided us any proof. Apparently, she does not have a health insurance card? So, I said that to say this. Let’s note that I take this child to the doctor when she’s sick, to the dentist if need be, and anything else. We pay out of pocket costs because we can’t get any info from the stepdad. The mother does not take care of her; she does not take her to the doctor or dentist. She does not have a PCP. There have been multiple times we have picked her up, and she reeks of cigarette smoke and perfume trying to cover it up. So, yesterday I took her to the dentist because she has two black cavities on her back molars on the bottom. So when I get there, I find out they can’t find her insurance through TriCare in the …

Should I let my sons father see him?

so I just found out from the courts, and my son’s dad’s rights have been completely suspended. For a good reason. But he and his mother are asking if he can see my son over at her house, which I technically don’t have a problem with. I am just keeping him from going places with him and to his house, which his mother knows. I thought the courts were going to do supervised visitation, and I had it set with his mother, but they took it all away. so my question is should I let him see him at his mothers still? I’m not trying to keep him out of his life just safe… Anonymous Community MemberThis question was asked by a Facebook community member who has asked to remain anonymous.

How can I get full custody?

Where do I start to obtain full custody of my 11 yr old? We have 50/50 as of now from when we did child support back when she was few months old since then he’s been to prison for seven years, got out came around for 2.2 seconds and now completely m.i.a since he’s married raising another child like his own and has absolutely nothing to do with my daughter. He pays child support here and there (definitely nothing steady), and that’s about it. He recently missed her last two days, and it’s officially my last straw seeing my child heartbroken, realizing she can’t even get a text from him. I don’t have many single mom friends, so I’m not even sure how to start this process, any advice is greatly appreciated Anonymous Community MemberThis question was asked by a Facebook community member who has asked to remain anonymous.

I am pregnant and the father is denying the baby: Advice?

Hey, ladies, sorry its a bit long, but I’m really at a loss right now. I’m 21 weeks with my third son! His brothers and I are thrilled! I am a single mother, but I bust my ass, so my boys want for nothing, while also attending school part-time. When I found out I was pregnant, it was a complete shock because I was on birth control. When I told his father, he responded with, “I don’t think I can even have kids,” yeah, okay, I’m pregnant!! Anyways he ended up blocking me on everything! He got ahold of me around ten weeks wanting a booty call, and of course, I went off a little bit… just a little. My oldest son’s father pays child support (actually only for two months last year, and he’s 7!). My middle son’s father is dead. And I’m not going to lie; child support would be very helpful for this man! But IDK if I want him in my son’s life. A week after he hit me up, his new GF and he announced (with an ultrasound) they were pregnant, so I’m pretty sure he knew when he got a hold of me. She’s …

Should I get a DNA test for my baby?

Hi, so I and ex have broken up, and we have a six-month-old together he’s saying unless I have DNA test we won’t be seeing him as he as doubts that he is his. Over two years ago I did delete messages from another guy who is just a friend but now this guy messages again (whilst baby is in hospital, he was only asking how I was doing) my ex sees it and is now demanding I do a DNA test, I have refused as it’s over 100 and I hadn’t that sort of money but cause of the deleting messages two years ago and him popping up now he says that it may be his baby, other stuff has happened and its been on-off relationship the whole three years. Sometimes very toxic and police called no trust on either side really Should I do the test or not?? Advice on getting full custody?

Hello, I am a single mum to a Two-year-old boy myself, and my ex doesn’t have a custody arrangement. He is currently in my full care. Start of last year he was having him two times a week until I found out he was back on drugs and stopped visits until he provided a clean drug test which he did months later and I started visits again until end of last year I had suspicions he was back on drugs and his family confirmed he was so I cut off visits again and have gone through mediation to help with fixing our friendship to be able to talk and agree on things for our son he agreed to provide a drug test in November and hasn’t. I let him see him on Christmas day for my son’s sake; I’m looking to get legal advice to start the process of getting full care. (custody) and court-ordered drug tests and supervised visits with a family member until he proves his doing better. Has anyone else gone through this type of situation and can provide advice or things that I should be doing? Anonymous Community MemberThis question was asked by a Facebook community …

My ex isn’t seeing our son: What should I do?

Hi! I’m 17 years old, and I have an almost two-year-old son. His father and I recently got back together when things turned very bad. He would hit me and call me names, but then it turned into him calling our son names and telling him to shut up every time he cried. After a while, he would push him and be very aggressive with him. I ended up leaving. I filed for child support, which led to being blocked on everything and a long message saying I was a bad mom and pretty much how much of a pos I was for doing it. He has court-ordered visits every other Saturday from 11-6, I had to download a text now app to message and ask if he wanted to get him, he didn’t respond to me, but I made sure I sent it another time, and he didn’t answer. He did this the last Saturday he was supposed to get him too. I am done trying, and I am at loss of what to do, should I stop all contact or keep trying to get him to see his son? My ex wants to sign his rights away: How does this work?

Hi well I had a question, I have two kids a 1.5-year-old boy and an almost-four-year-old girl when I was pregnant with my second I left their dad due to cheating well we were living in Mexico with him, and when that happened I moved back to Colorado he stayed with the girl and had their son a month ago he called me today saying that him and his wife thought it was better for him to sign away his rights since he is on their birth certificates and I need signed letters from him for like passports, school, traveling, etc. and he doesn’t want any more contact with us I said yeah it was better that way since he doesn’t call or help or have seen my kids a year. My question is how do I start that process? Do I have to get a lawyer? Can he be removed from their birth certificates and have his last name removed too? And if it’s possible to remove his last name, should I? I don’t think it’s fair to do that to my kids, but my family is saying by signing his rights it means he doesn’t care Anonymous Community …

My husband shares a child with his ex and she holds the child against him: Advice?

My husband’s ex and he share a child, and she didn’t tell him she was pregnant until he publically announced he was dating me.. Anyway, time goes by. The baby is here, and I actually had gotten pregnant too. I was five months with our son when the baby was born. I have always been neutral even when the girl spoke about my deceased mother and said she wanted my child to die and how she would cut him out of my stomach and throw us in a ditch… Long story short, she has been very bitter and doesn’t allow my husband to have any type of relationship with his daughter; he barely knows anything about her honestly. And this young lady, I use that term loosely, uses that little girl as a pawn and I’m so sick of it… I’ve still always encouraged him to try and be there, he didn’t want to get court-involved, everything was okay for a while until she said she was going to “hang my nigger baby from a tree and I would come outside to him hanging with a blue face,” and I finally snapped and went to beat her ass and ever …

Should I take my childs father back to court?

Would you take your child’s father back to court for supervised visits if he moved a woman in with him, who had her two children removed from her care? I just feel if a judge determined her unsafe around her own children, she shouldn’t be around mine. My daughters father might be the father of someones twins: Advice?

I found out I was pregnant by my daughter’s father in August of 2019; prior to that, he was talking to another female at the same time he was me, and after I found I was pregnant, we had found out from a mutual friend she was too. At that point in time, he had messaged her asking questions, and she told him to “not worry about it, to leave it alone bc they’re another guy” so as she said, he left it alone. However, those babies she had (twins) are now nine months old. We have recently run into this girl at a baby shower of a mutual friend, and she didn’t say a word, his parents ran into her Sunday at her job, and she spoke up to tell them she had twins and offered a picture to show them. HOWEVER did not say anything about them possibly being his or even mentioned his name. He found out today from his mother about that situation. I am curious to know what i should do, or what anyone else would do in the situation?? I feel as tho if he was to contact her himself to pursue a DNA …

How should I go about finding out who my sons father is?

I have a fan question, and I would like to remain anonymous, please. I’m seeking advice on how to handle the situation regarding the paternity of my son. When I was 18, I was very wild and college and slept around a lot. In January of 2017, at age 19, I found out I was pregnant. About six guys are the possible father of my child. My son is now 32 months, and I am feeling conflicted about what to do as he gets older and asks questions. Each guy knows I got pregnant, but we never discussed that he could be theirs, so we just stopped talking. Should I ask them each for a paternity test so I can have some answers and let my son decide if one day he’d like to pursue meeting them or just leave it alone since they knew I was pregnant and never asked if he could be theirs? I’m really just lost on what to do. Anonymous Community MemberThis question was asked by a Facebook community member who has asked to remain anonymous.

We think my fiances son is being abused by his mother: How can we get full custody?

My fiancee has a five-year-old little boy, and we have a four-month-old little girl together. His son’s mom has been awful towards me ever since we got together. She’s threatened me and harassed me. She blamed me for my father’s death, threatened my life, and told me she hoped I miscarried. At the time, I was living across the country and just recently moved to where my fiancee lives. Long story short, I believe shes abusing her son. My fiancee currently has 50/50 custody with her. We get his son half the week. Almost every time we get him he’s either sick or covered in bruises he can’t explain(I think he’s scared to) and lately he’s been losing a lot of weight.. he’s only 28lbs at 5 years old and fits into 3t.. our 4-month-old is almost half that, and she was 3lbs at birth. Anytime he comes to us; he’s starving. I make home-cooked meals every night, and every time he eats as fast as possible and always thanks me. It could be the most straightforward meal, and he’ll just go nuts and woof it down like he hasn’t eaten in days. We’ve tried asking him what he eats …
