Do you remember the eight-month pregnant news anchor who got body shamed? You will be surprised to learn what she is up to today.
“Good Day Chicago” host Kristen Nicole received criticism over her on-air maternity attire, in 2016 and in 2017. The anchor received multiple emails from viewers who had an issue with the dress she wore while on national TV and decided to call it out.
Remember This News Anchor and Her Perfect Response to Those Who Body-Shamed Her? Here’s What She’s Up to Now
One from a woman accusing her of wearing a fake baby bump to “boost ratings,” another asking “when will you start wearing dresses fit for pregnancy” and then the last from a person telling her to “stop wearing tight dresses — they don’t do you any favors,” according to AOL.
And so, the anchor decided to clap back.
“LET ME SAVE YOU SOME TROUBLE: My email address is [email protected],” she shared in a Facebook post. “But if you’re writing to tell me that you’re offended by the sight of my baby bump, don’t hold your breath waiting for a response. It’s not coming. I wear this dress probably once a month. No one has EVER had a problem with it. Wear it almost 8 months pregnant?? Whoa…disgusting, right? (insert massive eye roll),” Nicole wrote in a Facebook post.
Nicole addressed the people in her Facebook post: “To Karen, Gene and Sabrina who wrote to me today, use your time better. Pay someone a compliment. Do a good deed,” she wrote.
She also made sure to thank those who had been supportive.
“To everyone else who has sent messages of congratulations and well wishes, you are keeping me motivated through these last 6 weeks,” she said.
“We’re finally in the home stretch! I have had a healthy, comfortable, stress free pregnancy. My husband, son and I are beyond excited to meet our new addition. Thank you for being a part of our journey!”
So where is she today? It seems the anchor is deciding to focus on her family. In a Facebook post, she shared how it was time for her to move on.
“Friday will be my last night sitting alongside Marvin, anchoring the FOX 56 News at 10pm. After 18 years in TV, I’ve decided to step away from the career I love and give that time to my boys and husband.”
She went on to list her “why” behind moving on to the next chapter.
“Colton started middle school. The second, is him graduated and ready for high school. What you don’t see is all of his lacrosse games I missed, his banquet, help with homework and school assignments and having to rely on his wonderful dad to get him to practices and games, etc. It’s a gut punch every time I think about it. Colton has more lacrosse to play and the two little ones will be starting practices soon, too. Not to mention, being home for dinner with Brock!”
Happy Trails Kristen!
