Riley Keough and Priscilla Presley are one month away from their next court hearing amid the legal battle over the control of Lisa Marie Presley’s trust. As that court hearing nears, there has been a flurry of reports and updates about the family’s continued rift – some of which are true, while others are false.
One report, which is now being confirmed as false, alleged that Riley, the eldest daughter of Lisa Marie, had changed the locks to the second floor of Graceland – the former estate of Elvis Presley – in an effort to keep Priscilla, the mother of Lisa Marie, out. Graceland representatives have denied these rumors.
“These reports are entirely untrue. No locks at Graceland have been changed since Lisa Marie’s passing,” the representatives said. While the first floor of the estate is open to the public and functions as a museum in honor of the Presley legacy, the second floor can only be accessed by family members.
The legal battle, which continues on April 13, aims to determine who has control over Lisa Marie’s trust – which includes the Graceland mansion and 15% of Elvis Presley’s estate. As of right now, that control is in the hands of Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough – the latter of which died by suicide in July 2020.
Prior to 2016, control of the trust went to Priscilla Presley and Barry Siegel – Lisa Marie’s former manager. That all changed when Lisa Marie signed an amendment that replaced Barry and Priscilla with Benjamin and Riley. And since Benjamin passed away in 2020, Riley became the sole executor.
Just a few days after Lisa Marie’s memorial service, Priscilla filed a petition that questioned the validity and authenticity of the 2016 amendment – alleging that the signature may be forged and that Priscilla wasn’t made aware of the amendment until after Lisa Marie’s passing, which would deem it invalid.
The validity of the 2016 amendment is the primary reason why both sides are going to court on April 13. If the court rules in favor of Priscilla, then she would share control of the trust alongside Riley. If the court rules in favor of Riley, then she would continue to control the trust by herself. Until then, the rift continues.
Riley Keough Isn’t Allowing Court Battle to Slow Her Down
While her fate as co-trustee of her mother’s trust lies in the court’s hands, Riley Keough isn’t allowing any of it to stop her from living out her best life. Just last year, she and her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, welcomed their first child – the first grandchild of Lisa Marie and the first great-grandchild of Elvis Presley.
Not only that, but Riley Keough is starring as Daisy Jones in the new drama miniseries Daisy Jones & The Six – based on a novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Episodes 1-3 premiered on March 3, and episodes 4-6 were released on March 10. 2 more episodes will be released on March 17, and two more on March 24.

Most recently, Riley Keough was spotted at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party with her husband. She wore a backless sequined Celine gown and spoke with the media while enjoying the night – confirming that one of the guitars she uses in Daisy Jones & The Six was her personal guitar with a guitar strap from Elvis.
