Russian Model Who Criticized Putin Found Dead in Suitcase

A 23-year-old model’s body has been discovered inside a suitcase after she went missing a year ago.

Gretta Vedler disappeared after going on a social media tirade about Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Mirror reports that she was killed a month after she made the public criticism of Putin. Her body was not found until now.

“I can only assume, in my opinion, a clear psychopathy or sociopathy is seen in him,” Russian Model Gretta Vedler Wrote Shortly Before Going Missing.

Given the fact that Putin went through a lot of humiliation in childhood, he could not stand up for himself due to his [slight] physical form, it is not surprising that he left after law school and joined the KGB. Such people are timid and fearful from childhood, afraid of noise and darkness, strangers, so traits such as caution, restraint, and lack of communication are developed early in their character… I can only assume, in my opinion, a clear psychopathy or sociopathy is seen in him.”

Vedler wrote on social media.

The model reportedly shared the post calling out Putin after seeing crackdowns on protests by the Russian government and his apparent goal to enlarge Russia. Her concerns seem validated today as Russia has mounted a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The timing of her death was so close to her social media post that it is “chilling in the light of subsequent events,” The Mirror reports. The outlet does not suggest that her murder was connected to any state action. Reportedly, her “jealous” ex-boyfriend is to blame.

According to The Daily Star, Vedler’s ex-boyfriend Dmitry Korovin, 23, has confessed to strangling the model to death. He claims the murderous act was actually over money.

Korovin told investigators that he stuffed Vedler’s body into a suitcase and slept in a hotel room with it for three days. Korovin revealed to authorities that he then drove the body to a different location 300 miles away and left the suitcase in the trunk of the vehicle, which is where it was discovered on Sunday, The Independent reports.

He also told authorities that he shared social media posts after her death to keep up the illusion that the model was still alive.

The Independent reports it was Vedler’s friend, Evgeniy Foster, who is a blogger from Ukraine, who initially became suspicious and asked a contact in Russia to file a missing person’s report.

Following the discovery of Vedler’s body, Korovin was asked to explain, in detail, the manner in which he killed the model. After so doing, he was made to confess to Russia’s investigative committee.

While investigators have shared with the public that Korovin confessed to the murders, no further evidence has been supplied. In fact, the Vedler’s body is the only solid piece of evidence they have.
