Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively welcomed their fourth child on Feb. 12, 2023, but were reluctant to share any details about the latest addition to their family – only leaving fans with a couple of teases ever since.
But five months later, we finally have a name – and they went with Olin!
Reynolds revealed the name while giving a speech at the NYC premiere of his latest film Deadpool & Wolverine at the David H. Koch Theater on Monday. “I love that my entire family is here,” Reynolds said.

According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), Olin hasn’t ranked inside the top 1,000 baby names since 1964 – but now that Blake and Ryan revealed it, we expect it to start climbing up the ranks.

With Nordic and Scandinavian roots, the name Olin is a diminutive form of Olaf and Olof – both of which translate to ‘ancestor’s heir’ or ‘to inherit.’ So, it’s clear that Blake and Ryan think highly of their little one!

Baby Names That Are Similar to James – Blake & Ryan’s Eldest Daughter
James Reynolds is the eldest daughter of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. They welcomed her in Dec. 2014 – meaning she turns 10 years old later this year – and she has already made a name for herself.
In fact, Taylor Swift used James’ voice at the beginning of her 2017 track “Gorgeous.”
James originates from the Hebrew name ‘Ya’akov,’ which is translated into English as Jacob – meaning ‘supplanter’ or ‘follower.’ The name evolved into ‘Iacobus’ in Latin and eventually into James in English.
James was named after Ryan’s late father, who passed away on Oct. 28, 2015 (nearly a year after James was born) at the age of 74 after battling Parkinson’s disease. “My father died soon after my daughter was born, but he got to see her, which makes me happy,” Ryan said in an interview with Mr. Porter in 2018.
It’s also a fitting name because now the mother-daughter duo both have boy-dominant names. “I liked having a boy’s name,” Blake Lively said on Good Morning America in 2015. “I thought I’d pass it on.”

It’s unclear why the couple chose to name her Inez.

Baby Names That Are Similar to Betty – Blake and Ryan’s Third Daughter
Betty Reynolds is the third daughter (and youngest daughter, if Olin is, in fact, a boy) of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. They welcomed her in Oct. 2019, but it took them a little while to share the baby’s name.
And, believe it or not, it was actually Taylor Swift who spilled the beans.
“Betty” was also the name of a track on Swift’s 2020 album, Folklore. While that doesn’t mean anything at first glance, she mentions two other names in that song – James and Inez. If you put 2 and 2 together…
“The names are the names of our kids, but we trust her implicitly, and she’s very sensitive to any of that stuff,” Ryan said. “And obviously, the song has nothing to do with our kids other than our kids’ names.”
Betty is a diminutive form of Elizabeth, originating from the Hebrew name ‘Elisheva’ – including elements of ‘el,’ meaning ‘God,’ and ‘sheva,’ meaning ‘oath.’ Therefore, the name Betty means ‘God is my oath.’

Are Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Done With Baby Names?
Four kids is quite the full house, but don’t be surprised if Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds add to their ever-growing family in the future. Ryan certainly seemed all for it in a recent interview with E! News.
“The more the merrier,” Ryan said in the interview with Hugh Jackman. “As many as possible. As many little heartbeats as possible, just running around, wrecking stuff in the house. I love it. Let’s have more!”
Earlier this month, Blake joked that her husband was already “trying to get me pregnant again”.
Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen, but it gives us a little hope that we’ll soon get to introduce Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds as a family of six. But for now, they’ll have to settle with five.
